As for me, I think I'm impervious to whether other people actively dislike something I am wearing. Hubby is one who doesn't seem to like much. I'm a hat lover, for instance, and he hates the look of hats on women. One time, I got rid of one: I was speculating on why some clerk at a government office would be rude to me and hubby said it must be the hat. He said it was exactly the kind of hat Nasty Grandmothers wore. Now, he did have such a grandmother who used to smack people with her cane. Maybe she had a hat like this.
It was black, wide brimmed felt and had that fabric that came down and you could wrap or knot it for extra warmth. I thought it looked dramatic, at worst. Warmest hat I ever owned. I'm really sorry I got rid of it.
