What is your favorite brand of lipstick?

I need to purchase new, and would love your opinions on which brand you feel has the longest lasting color. Thanks!

Well, my fave right now is Primitive lipstick, but I like it because of its ingredients, how well it goes on, and for one color in particular that suits me well. I doubt it would win a medal for longest lasting color though.

The ones I've tried that last the longest usually feel dry and awful to me. I prefer nude colors so I don't notice when they wear off so much. I'm no help if you like vavavoom colors. I did try Dior once and it was divine, but I didn't think it lasted longer than normal and it was quite pricey and half the size of other lipsticks. I think the Bare Escentuals lipsticks stay pretty well (Gelato is my favorite) but I need to put a gloss over them. I prefer the Buxom or Stila glosses . I recently tried Vincent Longo Baby Balm and it feels as nice as the Dior, but very little color.

I've been liking MAC Lustre lipsticks for the last 5 or so years. Their staying power isn't super high, but it's a nice balance between moisturizing and lasting.

I like L'Oréal Infallible Lip Gloss. It claims to last six hours, but I've gotten four hours of talking and general use out of it, which is great for a gloss. It isn't a super high shine, which I quite like. I have not tried the matching lipstick, but have read good reviews. I have a nude color and a sort of "my lips but better" color. And only $10!

I've been using Mary Kay lipstick for years now. My favorite fall/winter color, Midnight Red, lasts a really long time--longer than the other colors I wear. I like the feel of their lipsticks and glosses on my lips--not too sticky or heavy. And no, I don't sell it so I'm not advertising it for that reason.

i have a makeup-eating face, so i'm always looking for long-lasting colors! i like Cliniques HIP lipsticks (tho i wish they'd have more colors). my favorites are Lipstick Queen Sinners - matte, last forever, don't spread, very saturated colors and the colors are all beautiful and very flattering. one tube lasts a long time, too! you can wear them full strength, use a little on your finger for a stain, and/or add a gloss on top.

wherever you shop give the lipstick a trial run and ask about return policies. have fun! steph

I have favorites for different purposes, but you specifically said longest lasting color. That hands down goes to Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar. Sounds gross and sticky, but they aren't sticky at all. The are smooth and creamy, take the most minute amount ever for application, and once they dry they wear like diamonds. I never thought I'd need a makeup remover for lipstick until I used it.

It sounds too good to be true, I know. But I swear these are filled with unicorn magic or something.

Gosh, lately it has been NARS matte or MAC matte lipsticks.
I love the Chanel I have if I want something creamy.
So hm. Right now I'd say NARS.

Oh yes, wanted to add that Too Faced has a product that will significantly extend the life of whatever lipstick you have. It is called Lip Insurance and I wear it under my other lipsticks when I don't wear lip tars.

Agree with Sarah on NARS too. I love almost anything NARS makes. Chanel lipsticks are also very nice. If you are looking for more budget conscious lipsticks, Clinique or Revlon who many feel make the best drugstore lip products.

It depends on the season and climate.

Right now it's winter and my lips can get dry very easily so i need lipsticks that are crazy moisturizing. My fav go tos are:

Revlon Super Lustrous in the Creme formula (these are AMAZING lipsticks for the price. I don't even always need a gloss on top and that is saying something. Tons of Mac dupes too if you look them up.)

Mac in Cremesheen formula

I also sometimes layer chapstick over or under a lipstick but this will break down the color (unless that's what you're looking for). So i prefer tinted chapsticks.

Revlon also just came out with some "Lip Butters" that are supposed to be a perfect in between chapstick - lipstick formula. I haven't tried them yet but i plan to soon.

ETA: As for longest last formula -- it really depends on you. What you eat/drink that day etc. But you can always apply lipstick, put a piece of tissue on your lips, apply power over top tissue, toss tissue and then reapply lipstick and that will make your lipstick last longer and work as a stain.

Chanel and MAC are my favorites. I also like NARS. I tried a bright YSL lipstick, and those seem really nice, very light. They also stain your lips so a little bit of color is still there long after the lipstick wears off. It's fairly pricey, though.

MAC and Bobbi Brown, which have the best colors for my skin tone. Also they are scent and flavor free, which I love.

I don't wear makeup that often but a couple months ago I bought a tube of Clinique Black Honey and it is great for adding some color but in a subtle way. It does look very dark on the tube but when it goes on, it's more like subtly tinted lipgloss. I've heard it's flattering on all skin types!
