What I wore (late Dec-early Jan)

Just a few from late December through today. I notice I am wearing a lot of purple and green lately.

Monday 12.21: BR Navy pencil skirt, AT green sweater with braided neckline, gray tights, CL by Laundry gray pumps, AX denim moto jacket, Anthropologie blue and green patterned scarf, blue beaded wire-wrapped earrings
Wendesday 12.30: DKNY skinny jeans, brown Rockport boots, Carissa Rose black blouse (a Christmas gift from my parents), purple wool swing coat from Nordstrom (Christmas gift from my sister, last year), and patterned pashmina scarf from Fuego
Thursday 12.31: Purple plaid Jessica Howard dress, black tights, black Clarks Cone Sweet booties, black Frenchi cascading cardi, AT bronze pearl necklace
Monday 1.4: Express B&W pencil skirt and black silk blouse, AX denim jacket, black polka dot tights, red CL by Laundry pumps

I've also made a few post-Christmas sale purchases, and received a couple of new items from Boden that I'm really jazzed about: a green pencil skirt (it's the same as the denim skirt that Medusa and Marianne ordered) and a color-blocked sweater dress.
I wore the sweater dress on New Year's Eve and also today at work, and I wore the green pencil skirt out with friends on Saturday with brown tights and Rockport boots, a navy knit top, and the same AT pearl necklace I keep wearing on a weekly basis.

Kari - what great outfits. I love your creativity and combinations. And I loved seeing your interpretation of course of the black and white skirt that we both own. Reminds me that I can wear those with my red booties and denim jacket. I will have to try this. Thanks for inspiring me!

Thanks, Ele! My office is "relaxed business casual", which is a bit ambiguous, but I'm grateful for the leeway to be able to wear denim if I feel like it.

Marianna, that is a big compliment coming from you. You are such a pro at dressing your own body in a flattering but trendy way, and I feel like I've just started to grasp how I can branch out a little more.

Thanks Kristine, Louise, & Bella - I'm finding that there's almost a therapeutic effect to playing with color while it is so dark and dreary this winter. It lifts my mood to have bright, playful colors on my body. So funny how that works.

Lena and Kyle, thank you - I was feeling somewhat insecure about the B&W outfit - from up close I thought it looked like too many patterns and textures clashing - so I'm really glad to know it looked all right.

Thank you Angie! I am absolutely in love with my Carissa shirts. My mom actually called Carissa on the sly to purchase it for me, not knowing exactly what size and style I'd bought when I got my white blouse, and she said that Carissa was so incredibly sweet and helpful on the phone. My mom was also amused that Carissa automatically knew who I was when she mentioned she was my mother. Such awesome service!

Medusa, you are right on - I love how the style of the Carissa shirt is so distinctive and beautiful. Also, I so enjoyed seeing your own Boden purchases! Between the two of us, we hit a great chunk of the catalogue, huh? Did you decide what you are going to keep from your own order?

Fantastic week! You look so elegant and hip at the same time. I think my favorite is the plaid dress. I also LOVE the new skirt on you. Glad you got the Carissa shirt in black. It's such a great basic to have.

Kari, you're right - the two of us are making sure Boden stays in business.

I did decide what to keep from my order: the colorblock tunic, the green dotted top, and the plaid blazer. I decided to exchange the pencil skirt for a shorter length. Yay for Boden.

Thank you so much! (And I am so glad that I finally gave Boden a try this year... they are pricey, but IMO worth holding out for sales.)

Medusa, I'm especially glad you kept the colorblock tunic, and I hope you're able to find a denim skirt in a length that works better for you.
