Thanks Ladies! Glad it's a keeper I spent a good amount of time last night perusing everyone's posts on styling the dress to get some ideas for the skirt.
Angie, I also prefer the lighter boot, the black just looked to heavy to my eye.
Suz, yes I am enjoying wearing lighter, and colored footwear, so much so that my black shoes are not getting much of a look in at the moment.
Anne, I found the skirt at Target! It was $35.00 and the fabric is excellent, good quality overall. They only had a couple and were hanging in a seemingly random spot in the store. I just happened to spot the stripe and dug deep and pulled out the skirt... I was quite pleased.
Rute, thank you. I like the idea of an alternate styling with layering something longer over the skirt.
Denise, I would never percieve your comments as critical. I always appreciate your considered responses. It seems any pair of lace up shoes I buy, have ENORMOUS laces I totally agree and I would do as you suggest with them to minimise the look of them.
The top was from Cotton On and was about $25.00 last year. It was longer with the back coming down to my knee. The front probably to mid thigh length. I found I wasn't wearing it so I took to it with the scissors two weeks ago and cut it shorter (it's that jersey type fabric that is not hemmed) and I have already worn it about three times
I am wearing the skirt to work today and have styled it differently to the photos and am in fact wearing long, fitted black boots with it. Unfortunately I overslept and had no time for photos but will try tonight when I get home and post. I am finding, due to the fit, that it's a very 'lady like' skirt.... small steps... no "striding" around the office for me today.
