Wedges have always read "dowdy" to me, but the Nordstrom stylist brought these to me last week and they were the most comfortable shoes I've put on in ages. They are 3x the normal amount I spend on shoes, so I didn't buy them, but I have been thinking about them ever since.
My main concern is that they don't read "authoritative" enough for me to wear when doing presentations at the front of the room in a corporate setting, though I had no issues doing so in riding boots paired with a tube skirt.
Other questions: How would these shoes read with pants, like the JCrew Maddison, which I just bought in gray? Are these year-round appropriate, or too much for summer? Will they "date" quickly? At this price, I will want to wear them for years.
