What blazer or jacket with this dress?

I just bought an Anne Klein gray scoopneck sheath dress from Macy's and am wondering what blazer or jacket I could wear over it. I don't know how to get the pic to show up, but below is the description and item number. I got it when it was priced at just under $50, and I got free shipping. I probably won't wear a jacket over it most of the time, but you know how it is. Restaurants (and other places) can be cold, and I find it helpful to have something stylish to throw on so I don't freeze. Thoughts, anyone?

Gorgeous dress and with that beautiful waist detail it would be a shame to wear a jacket that covered it up. A pashmina draped around your shoulders when you feel the chill in the air is one idea that would maintain the integrity of the dress. A cropped, 3/4 sleeve jacket with some bling would go well. As for colour, with a grey dress the sky, actually the rainbow in the sky, is the limit.
Then again, a beautiful slightly blingy paler tone of that grey would be SO elegant. Have fun!

Glad you like the dress. I never thought of wearing a pashmina, and wonder if a petite like me could pull something like that off. Pashminas always look so big to me. Maybe the cropped, 3/4 sleeve jacket would be better. At any rate, thanks for your help!

Beautiful dress and you don't want to hide too much of it so I agree on a shorter jacket or cardi. Colors are unlimited as grey is total neutral. Maybe an animal print would be fun too.

I'd choose a cropped jacket, maybe even bolero to show off your waist. Any color or a tweed would work. A Chanel type jacket in a tweed would be classic. A short moto jacket in leather, woven or knit would give a different look.

Then there's the classic cropped jean jacket in denim, white, black or a color. A blazer seems too long but a cropped tuxedo jacket might be another choice.

Yes, that's the dress. I think you're right that a blazer seems too long. I'm going to have to look for just the right thing. Otherwise, what's the point? I guess it's the perfectionist in me, but I don't want to pair this dress with just anything. It needs to be something that looks like it's supposed to go with the dress.

The dress arrived yesterday afternoon. It's darker than what it looks like online. It's actually a charcoal gray. Actually, that's nice because charcoal's so easy to work with. I'm feeling the need for a pop of red. Black would also work, of course, but I think that would be too predictable and safe.

It's not the red I was hoping for, but it fits really well, has the 3/4 length sleeves I was looking for, and goes great over the dress. It also works with several other items in my wardrobe, so I'm pleased. You can't tell it from the pic, but it has subtle silver threads running through the knit to give it a slight shimmer. Great for the holidays. I'm not into much bling or glimmer, so I like this. I think I can wear a colorful beaded sterling silver necklace (amethyst, perhaps?) with this to give color near my face and bring out the silver in the shrug. The silver also goes great with the charcoal gray dress.

I also found a similar black shrug at Beall's, but it hasn't arrived yet.
