Wardrobe Hole?

Hi Ladies,

I have been wondering if I do, in fact, have one wardrobe hole!

I don't own a current pair of black pumps. They are not something I would wear a lot but I did find myself wishing I had a pair to wear with my soft black track pants. For Spring they would also be useful with certain dresses when I wanted a more lady like vibe and also with skinny jeans when I'm feeling a little chic:)

These have a good heel height and the toe is pointy enough?

Could you see these working for me and my wardrobe?

Absolutely! Sometimes you just need a pointy toe black shoe and these look great. Conservative enough for a work setting, but not so boring that they wouldn't work for going out. I've actually been reaching for my black pumps a lot more often lately to add a little crispness to outfits. Is the price reasonable?

I agree, a pair of black pumps is so useful. These appear to be a classic style and reasonable height.

I have two pairs, one peeptoe and one pointy toe and do love to be able to pull them out. I don' t wear them a lot but I do appreciate quality in this piece because they should last years.

On a different note, I wondered if you had ever looked at Moochi clothes, a NZ firm. Their quality is excellent and some of the pieces reminded me of your style. Not cheap but very graceful.

Absolutely!! You need these (or something like them).

I'd call that an almond toe, actually. But whatever, it is a nice shoe with a graceful line, and it looks excellent.

Thanks K... yes they are actually quite inexpensive as I don't really want to spend a lot on something like this as they wouldn't be worn a lot.

I know you have more polish/classic to your look than I do so they may work for you, but I always find classic shoes a disappointment. If I'm going for ladylike I prefer to tone down my clothing & keep the shoes different

Suz, I know they are not the extremely pointy toe but I tend to think of an almond toe as being more like the toe in the ballet flats below. More rounded. But then I have just looked at images of almonds!! and they have a round end and a pointy end lol.

Good thinking Caro:) I do have my patent red classic pumps which I love and they only tend to come out for more formal occasions like weddings etc. But generally like you I find shoes that are too classic get ignored. These wont break the bank so could be worth the experiment.

I like those, and the fact the the toe and heel look like they have some staying power, although that wouldn't matter as much if they are inexpensive. What does matter, is that they're comfortable. You'd better listen to caro, though. She has a good point. Maybe you could find some with an edgy detail that would still perform the functions you want them to.

if these black pumps are clarks don't walk but run to buy them:) I find clarks heels very comfortable, walkable and stylish. I have two pairs - great quality for a price.

I've wondered this exact same thing for my shoe wardrobe, Deborah. In fact, I even tried out a pair of the Okala cousin shoe that looks a lot like the Valentino rockstuds -- the black version with subtle metal studs. However, the fit was all wrong for me, so I shelved the whole idea. I decided no black pumps for me unless they are so cool I will *want* to find a way to work them into everyday outfits. No black pumps just for the sake of having black pumps -- they must make my heart go pitter-patter.

Just food for thought.

I have worn them several times, including recently to a cocktail party where I stood for 2 hours straight- they were amazingly comfortable (and I am usually whimpering at that point!) Just FYI I have a wide foot so I sized up from 6.5 to 7.

I am a pump lover and believe everyone should have a good pair (for their style and life) of black. I think what you show here is perfect and if its not a big expense even better. You might surprise yourself in reaching for them more than you think.

I hadn't had classic black pumps for years, then last year found myself wanting some. And I did wear them more than expected. I'm not one to wear them with dresses and skirts (seems a bit flight attendy for me) but they were great with silky track pants, rolled up BFs, ankle pants...

If there is such a thing as a wardrobe essential, a black pump would be on my list. It really is a classic in all its forms. Best with a pointed toe and comfortable heel height, I love its leg lengthening effect and the way they work for day and night, with dresses, jeans and trousers alike. For you, I'd pick a hip pump with some sort of interesting heel or detail. Because I am petite, mine are simple but of decent quality. Maybe have a look at ZOMP website, they have very cool, mainly Italian shoes, and you may find something quite unique, that will well and truly go the distance. You can get some great deals at their sales on their good quality shoes. Either way, that hole needs to filled!!

Those look perfect. I have a pair on my master list too. I currently do fine with leopard calf hair and red suede, but black would be nice.

So I have NEVER worn my Perfect black pumps that I bought because I was sure I had a wardrobe hole... And they would bookend my hair perfectly and go with most of my black and jewel tone wardrobe.... They just feel too strict and conservative for any occasion.

i'm with Jjsloane and DEB, for me a basic black pump is a wardrobe essential, and i'm actaully suprised at how many people don't own them....i kind of thought they were like the jeans, almost everyone had a pair, but the shape, height and amount of wear was going to be different. that being said, i will confess to owning 4 pairs.

I've been looking (nay searching) for the same thing for me... I know the perfect black pump exists out there for me. What I want needs to be a bit higher than the pair you showed but a similar toe. Very little embellishments and super comfy! I want them for the same reasons as you. They would be perfect for wearing with my soft track pants or a pair of skinny jeans.

I have a pair of black pumps that are I have had for years and I tried them with a few outfits this year. Interestingly, they just felt wrong to me. I have become so accustomed to seeing shoes with a high vamp that the low vamp seemed odd and dated. Maybe wear your black track pants when you go shopping to make sure these really would work for you?

I may be the only person without black pumps. I get by with bronze. I like them better and find them quite versatile.

All my pumps save one are black, variable heights, leathers, ornamentation,

But...i'm not sure this is a hold you need to fill with "classic"pumps. Something refined to fit the vibe but more fun. Like theeeeeeese.

I had the same thought as Caro--I wondered if you might want something a little more distinctive, yet timeless. I know you have d'Orsay flats--what about a d'Orsay style pump?

I thought this was a wardrobe hole for me too and spent an inordinate amount of time searching. Then I realized I was kidding myself that I was really a pumps girl. I got the fake Rockstuds for parties but for office looks I stick with booties, oxfords and my pointy studded Allsaints flats.

Just a different perspective... Like a white button down they seem to skew more classic than me. And if they don't skew classic then they aren't really filling that supposed hole for me anyway.
