Trying the model outfit

After opening this thread http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....utfit-work I figured it wouldn't hurt to try and actually recreate this look.
I improvised with a scarf to mimic the flowy vest.

I don't think it looks that bad but it sure is a lot going on for a small person like me (5'2'').

I would love to hear your opinions - positive and negative

You have a pretty figure so you can carry it off, but when I first saw the outfit, I thought, "Wow, that's a lot of loose!" If that's the impression you're going for, you made it.

I like the improvised version! Once again I'm flabbergasted at how relative height is - if you didn't write that you were only, 1,6m (?) tall, I would never have guessed it. This is obviously a type of outfit that tickles you and it looks good in an arty and soft way, why don't you simply go for it?

I like your version much better. Not sure why it works with 2 lots of volume perhaps it's becuse the pants are cropped and fitted at the calf? x

oh yeah, baby !! brilliantly done, that scarf is wonderful and a perfect scale for your figure, and the pumps take it from trendy to timeless. it's funny, too - when i first saw the inspiration photo, i thought "that top has a ribbed hem so it's pulling in the fabric to show off the model's shape". of course, upon closer inspection i saw that this wasn't the case. but you did it and it works beautifully!

one tiny - it's not even a quibble, just try it to see if you like it if you want - you could try setting your top's hem at more of an angle, rather than straight across (like on the original look).

i personally just adore these type of flowy, lots of fabric looks. long and lean is great, but i also really enjoy playing around with different types of silhouettes - it's so fun to see someone else who enjoys this and does it really well!! steph

What a surprise! I seriously thought I'm delusional with this outfit and everyone else will consider it a no-no! Wow, I'm glad you all like it! Thanks for the kind words and elaborate answers - I truly appreciate it!
I still think I need to get used to "surrendering my waist" so I can confidently rock this combo, but you all sure helped me a lot. Thank you!
The sweater I'm wearing is pretty much a closet orphan, because I find it too boxy and hiding the little waist definition I have. I will occasionally wear it with skinnies but I never feel good in it. It's ironic that the best way of wearing it that I have come up so far is with another loose item! Go figure ...
