trying the 70s vibe for spring (but not succeeding?)

Here are two outfits with my GAP L&L's, but I'm not sure I'm happy with either. I was trying for a casual, spring 70s vibe.

#1: this is a Talbot's silk top I've had for awhile, and I'm trying to decide whether I can find a way to style it. I love the fabric, but I'm not sure it flatters. Keep or donate?

#2: this top is from Old Navy - I'm looking for casual summer tops, but I'm not sure the neckline or sleeves flatter. Keep or return?

Suggestions for styling these jeans are welcome! I'm not feeling in my groove here.

I think nr1 would be much more flattering if it didn't have the boat neck, but a V-neck, a scoop neck or just a t-shirt neck line? I like nr2 but I see what you mean, the sleeves could be better (but I still don't think they are bad on you).

I like the first top, but I love the color and pattern and anything silk. Maybe push up the sleeves a bit? It seems like the perfect grown-up version of a boho peasant top for summer. The long necklace helps off set the boatneck by creating a V. I vote keep if this fits your style.
I think the sleeves put me off a bit on the second top. If you could make it sleeveless or wear it under a jacket maybe? As a casual summer top I think it works.

honestly I'm not loving either of those blouses on you.
Since the first one is already part of your closet though, I think you can make it work. You have the right idea to add the long necklace to offset the boatneck, but that necklace is lost on the pattern of the blouse. Try something in gold or silver that will pop against the pattern.
I'd return the second blouse. I'ts not bad, but it's not fab... I think you can do better.

I like #1--can you just push the sleeves up to minimize the volume across the bottom? I think that looks very 70's. I think the second top is fine for a casual top. I bet it would look great layered under your Gap blazer.

@QM: I've been trying to find a pendant necklace - just ordered one from Etsy, which I'm hoping will fill that wardrobe gap. I'll try it out and see.

@Kelly: MaryK wore #2 top layered with a jacket, and it looked great, but I'm sort of freaking out about finding some summer tops that I can wear on their own, since I know at some point it will too hot for layers : ( But it wasn't very expensive, and I bought it with a discount, so maybe I'll keep for that. I'll try it and see.

I love #1! If you want to introduce more vertical lines, back in the day we used to put an open vest over an outfit like that. And/or replace the beads with a statement pendant on a long chain (maybe the Asos megapearl?) so the eye has someplace to rest.

Maybe #2 with a khaki bottom?

I think you did really good with #1. If you pull sleeves slightly up and add some chunky etnic bracelets, it will be even better.
I'm playing with 70's theme this year too!
