Travel Capsule for Italy - YouLookFab Forum

Hi ladies,

Getting ready for Italy and have put together a colour palette of black/white/gray with a dash of citron, red and blue. Pretty well everything mixes and matches. I'll need business casual for the conference, and comfortable clothes for touring about.

I'm taking 3 pairs of white pants - flares, bootcuts, and capris, 2 trousers, but am still debating whether to take a pair of jeans - or skinny (well sized up skinnies) black pants. The black skinnies might be a little dressier. What do you ladies think?

I'm taking a mixed media blazer (waving to my blazer twin Ceit), as well as a dark denim jacket. Was thinking to take a cream trench, but given the weather (should be high 20s) don't think it will be necessary. I'll also have 3 pairs of shoes - black booties, taupey gray booties and a pair of white perforated leather oxfords. All footwear is well broken in and very comfortable.

Suggestions for tweaks, additions? All thoughts/comments greatly appreciated!

Love your travel capsule! As I paged through the pictures they just kept getting better and better. My favourites are the white trouser/mariner T combos, and the mixed media jacket. The later is very euro-chic. The floral trousers with the citron and grey tops are a magic combination of killer stylish and fun.

Great outfits - I LOVE the spotted pants on you. Hope you don't mind the comparison but you look like Tilda Swinton (a very good thing in my book).
LOVE #10!! My least favourite (personal choice only) is the floral pants but they look great with the knit in #12. Have a great trip

Carla - we will make time for shopping! I've been heavily researching the food and shopping situation...and it's all good Will have to do a recap when I return.

I love Tilda Swinton Caro! We watched 'I am Love' last week - fabulous movie, starring Tilda, and takes place in Milan...just doing my research on all levels I love the dotted pants but have been uncertain as to footwear - I like them with the white oxfords.

Wow, you are one stylish traveller!! This is a fantastic capsule, and I love the way you defy practicality to take those white trousers. Why not feel fab instead of FEH? Brilliant (in more ways than one).

I like the idea of black skinnies as a "dressier" alternative if required. And I do wonder about a trench -- not for the temperatures, but what about rain? If that is unlikely, then I guess it is not an issue.

That mixed media blazer is so killer on you (and on Ceit). Just love it.

Is this all fitting into your carry on? Because it's a lot and yet very economical. I am impressed with the different "moods" you are able to convey even with a simple colour palette. Some outfits feel right for bright hot sunny days, and some for cooler cloudy days.

What is you plan for the bags - are you bringing all of them? They certainly look great! I find that I absolutely need a comfortable cross body bag for traveling - particularly in big cities, so that I can be sure it won't get snatched.

What a fantastic travel capsule. I wish I could look even half as stylish when I travel. If choosing between the jeans and the black skinnies, I vote the black.

Fantastic capsule - I don't think you need the jeans as you gave so many trouser options but the black skinnies can be dressed up so might be useful.

Suz - I hear you about the trench. The long range forecast does show some rain - but also highs of 28 - so I'm thinking - warm rain. Which will be delightful. Unlike the my last trip, I don't plan to spend a huge amount of time outside. I'll be inside 'conferencing', or hopefully, in the change rooms trying on stuff!!!
You made me smile Kelly - the capsule has been in my head for a while, as I'm driving back and forth from work, I've been picturing myself in Italy...and what I'm wearing. On Sunday I just threw it all in the spare room and had a monster try on session.
Makrame - good question! The patterned tan CK bag is going for sure. It can store a lot, is lightweight, and has a full zip, and a shoulder strap. If there is room, I'll take the reddish bag as well - it converts to a clutch and also has shoulder strap. I'm planning one carry on bag so there may be a few sacrifices.
Carol, Joy and KC - comfort is key - and thank you for weighing in on the black skinnies. I was leaning in that direction and you've just helped me make the decision

Floral pants in11-13 steals the show! I will come back to scrutinize the others when my blindness go away:-) but this travel capsule looks so intersting and coherent, even atthe first sight! Great job, MW:-)

I'm also understanding, from this post, how to do the travel capsule thing. It feels a little daunting but I can also imagine how helpful it would be. Will you refer to these images on your trip, or are the ideas now seared on your brain?

Ha Viva! You've discovered my trick - I will refer to the images on my camera. It's the details I tend to forget - like which belt, what footwear, what topper...heck what don't I forget! I like fussing with a look at home - but when I'm away I don't want to spend time deliberating.
