Too casual or trendy for me?

I went shopping with Ana the other day and tried this on

I loved it, but got something else instead. I found this on eBay for much less (and there's even a few that are less than this one, this was just the best photo) so am considering it again.
I just don't want it to look to young or strange on me. It looked good as far as fit and color, and I love the wide collar.
I love puffer style vests, and this one fit very well, and didn't make me look like the Michelin tire man.

I like the vest but would need to see it on you to get a great idea. It is not as polished as I would expect to see on you. The ribbing at the bottom always worries me because of pilling. I do not think it is too young, classic lines. Ebay is soo tempting sometimes.

Ooh, I also love the color! I think it's very cute and doesn't seem too young at all (after all, you ARE young!). It does seem sort of casual though - how often do you go casual vs smart casual? I kind of picture this with bootcut denim and converse or maybe even flats for a casual look - say if you were going to watch a sporting event or go the movies. The other thing to consider would be how much wear you would get out of this in your climate.

I wear casual on the weekends, and I tried this on with my jeans and super casual white button down.
I am a pear, Louise, but somedays I think I'm more hourglass as my body changes. The vest is cropped, so it doesn't hit my hips at all.

I also think this can work Sarah! It's a great colour and shape and I really like the outfit you were describing. It might be a fun item to add to your feminine, elegantly classic look. I can also see this with pencil skirts by the way.

This color surprises me. I also have a mustard pencil skirt and I love it. This is a complete surprise because I never considered this to be a good shade for me.

I really like this Sarah. I agree that it will depend on fit, but regarding the "too casual" question, I think that the great thing about most vests is that you can put them with trousers, micr-check,herringbone, etc. ( not just jeans ) and that dresses them right up.
