Three outfits and some of my new clothes

Here is what I’ve worn this week so far. Every outfit has at least one new thing that I’ve bought in my recent shopping trips.

Sunday: http://i301.photobucket.com/al.....G_2579.jpg
I wore an old white shirt tucked into my new black high-waisted pencil skirt from Express. I couldn’t wait to pull out my red heels, so I wore them as well. The outfit is a bit understated, but I think the red keeps it form being boring. This is what I wore to church. The afternoon was spent running around doing errands, so I changed into my pink dress, but I’ve already posted a picture of that, so I didn’t take one.

Monday:

My new white skirt from Gap and a peach knit-sweater-like top with brown ballet flats.

Today:

I just got my Sweet Pea top in the mail form Smart Bargains, so I had to wear it. Underneath is my new white cami from express. The capris need to be shortened, but they are also baggy in the but (like most pants on me), so I may just pass them on.

That's all for now.

Wow! Love all the new purchases. You look particularly fabulous in the Sunday outfit. The skirt fits you perfectly, and those red pumps are amazing!!! Would you consider a string of oversized pearls or maybe a pretty scarf to accessorize it a bit?

Wow Sarah, I agree with Shiny, the first outfit is indeed amazing! She makes some great suggestions on accessories. You could also layer ( when it's colder) a V-neck sweater over in a pretty color.

I also like your white skirt. I have that exact same Sweat pea top! How do you like it? I love mine!

Ok who are you and what have you done with Sarah?

;)

You look great Sarah. People must be taking double takes when you walk into a room.

You look great Sarah. Your new wardrobe is really falling into place. I would love to see the Sunday outfit accessorized with some jewelry and a great bag, or a scarf as Shiny suggested. The shoes are wonderful!

Beautiful! You look fab! It's a GREAT pleasure to finally see you in clothes that fit your petite frame. You have come a long way from those boxy T-shirts. Well done dear girl!

Shiny, thanks so much for the suggestions. Oooooooooh, I love the idea of chunky pearls! I just don’t have any. I do have quite a collection of scarves though. What color would pop with the black, white, and red? I love the red heels too. I’ve been wanting some for at least a year; I just never found the right pair and had the money at the same time. They are 3 ½ inch stilettos, the highest I think I’ve ever had, although I’ve had several pairs of 3 inch heels.

Tanya, I love the Sweat Pea top too! At first I thought the color was a little odd on me, but I think it’s just the lighting in our apartment, because it looks fine in the picture and looked fine in the mirror in my teacher’s voice studio this afternoon. The picture doesn’t do it justice; it makes me look hour-glassy. :)

Nicole, you make me laugh as usual. I must be British too :D Thanks for the complements. I’m looking forward to hearing what people think of my transformation when the semester starts this fall.

Maya, thanks for the suggestions. I do need to play more with accessories. I’ve been spending so much time on getting clothes that fit that I’ve neglected the accessories, but they are not completely forgotten. My bag collection is a bit small at the moment. Right now I have three black purses in varying sizes and two special-occasion clutches, one in gold and one in silver. I have more purses at my parent’s house somewhere. The next time I go over there for a visit I need to dig though my bag collection and see what’s still in decent shape and not too dated.

Tomorrow is my haircut, so I will be posting before and after pictures. Chop chop! :)

You are absolutely stunning! I am so happy for you- (and I think that little girl that you remembered who smiled and showed how she loved life) would be happy that you are back!
Truly beautiful

What a beautiful transformation you have made from wearing clothes that swallowed you up, to pure hottie!!

along with the other fab suggestions, i think a big chunky belt would look great with the first outfit. maybe a yellow or cobalt blue? black or white would look fabulous as well.

There's Sarah--I knew we'd find her under all those clothes! :D

I like everyone's suggestions and I am AMAZED at what a difference clothing that actually fits can make. You look so wonderful (and happy)! My favorite is the black pencil skirt and white blouse. Yellow, red or cobalt blue accessories would be nice.

Well, done. I can hardly wait to see more!

Sarah, I'd just start trying on your scarves to see what works. I don't personally wear scarves because my neck is too short, but I think you could carry it off beautifully. I don't think the scarf needs to be matchy-matchy with the rest of the outfit. Choose something, perhaps, that brings out the color in your eyes? It should be something with strong colors though, nothing pastel. A small scarf that ties right around your neck and isn't too long. (Someone help me out here... I'm not the best to advise about scarfs!!)

As for necklaces, it seems you have a lot to choose from. Just start trying them on with the outfit. Maybe even pile on 2 or 3 together.

I love the idea of a waist cinching belt over the shirt for the pencil skirt combo.

Sarah, I wear scarves a lot and would suggest a square scarf, bandana sized or a bit smaller, rolled on the diagonal, corners to the middle. Then twist it a bit, tie a loose knot in the middle, and tie the ends in a small knot at the back of your neck. It will just fill in the neck of the blouse a bit and give a pop of whatever color you want. I hope the instructions make sense. Play with the knot so that it looks nice. I especially like cotton scarves this way. They can really pull a very casual outfit together. If the scarf is too short to tie the central knot, just twist it to form a ring shape around your neck when tied in the back. You can try it with a bandana. A washed (not stiff new one) works best. I also like shiny's multiple necklaces idea.

Thanks for the complements ladies. You all make me feel so good. I'll have to try a belt Shell. I love your color suggestions. OK Shiny, I'll experiment with my scarf collection. Sounds like a plan. Quite a while back Antje (I think) posted a great site with suggestions for tying scarves and I bookmarked it. Thanks for the tip Joy.
