A black dress is an absolute essential in my wardrobe - I can wear one at least once per week as illustrated by the wearing of my black EF drape front dress during the warmer months.

I have tried that EF dress with tights/leggings for winter and although the look is fine with a topper and not seasonally confused, the fabric of the dress does not play nicely with tights. It sticks like the VC tube skirt fabric does. And it doesn't work with a slip either. This means I do not have a black dress for the cold months to wear with tights and boots. A HUGE wardrobe hole for me has been identified.

So true to my keeping purchase costs reasonable, I've turned once again to my trusty and favorite eBayer to see if she had any winter weight EF black dresses. Lo and behold, she does - this merino wool 3/4 sleeve pretty little number. It is a bit of a pleated design but without the bulk and width of a stiffer pleated fabric. The bodice has quite tight and flat pleats and then on the lower part of the dress, the pleats are wider apart, giving the dress a bit of a swingy and A-line shape.

This is not normally a shape I gravitate towards however I think the dress has enough shape and is short enough that it would still be flattering. And of course I almost always rein in any unwanted width/volume with a topper.

Anyhoo....over to you for your thoughts...YAY worth a try; NAY not a good option for me. Thanks
