Booties/boots?

Astrid

Now for something that's wearable right now - I'm thinking abut getting another pair of dressier boots/booties.

I thought maybe these booties, they are a wider width so should work well on my feet. Ideally they'd work with pants and skirts.

Or maybe these boots for bookending? Also a wider width but not as robust for fall weather because of the suede.

I don't want to spend more and need some room for my feet, but if you have other suggestions I'd love to hear them.

I do like the Ara. I have a pair of Ara sandals and they are super comfortable. Do you have a need for a moto boot?

Not sure I would go with suede given your winter climate and commute. Unless it is by someone like Aquatalia or La Canadienne that knows how to make suede winter proof.

Thanks Thistle! I agree, Ara is great. It's a brand that's widely available here and they always have wider widths. I only have one pair of boots at the moment, my waterproof Ecco boots. No booties. I just want another option now that it's fall besides the boots below, my sneakers and the oxfords. The last two will soon be to impractical for the weather, so I would have to wear the Ecco boots 24/7 if I didn't buy an alternative. You're probably right about the suede.

Thanks Amy. I love Think, they have some great stuff! But they're too pricey for me right now, I also need some other things this fall and can't spend it all on boots. The ones above are 120€ and I don't want to spend more.

Thanks Caro. I also like them both, although they're quite different styles. The suede boots play a bit into my boho side. But the black booties appeal to the tomboy in me, they're tougher and I could also see them working well with my plaid skirts.

You are right Astrid, the black would look fab with your skirts. No chance of both I suppose? Birthday? Christmas? If it can only be one I would go with the black they are more practical than the suede.

Oh, forgot to say that I really, really like the taupe ones, but agree that the black ones would be more practical. Still, you could wear your Eccos on wet days, and suede would be fine in dry cold weather.

I love both styles for you as well, Astrid, and Amy makes a good point: suede could be fine for non-rainy days.

Thanks Glory! I had neither booties nor low boots before, so both would be a new style for me. The first ones might be difficult to wear with non black bottoms.

Amy, you're right of course about the weather. We do have a lot of rain in between though, I always have my umbrella with me in fall and winter.

My black patent booties are Ara - first time I've tried the brand - and I'm amazed at how comfortable they were right out of the box. Definitely worth trying Astrid.

Thanks Irene. Yes, you're right of course. I didn't mean dressy as in really dressy shoes, more like 'less gear like' looking in comparison to my Ecco boots. Could have said that better.

Both are nice, Astrid, but I'm partial to the lighter-colored ones. They'd be so pretty on you, and a little more unusual. Suede protector sprays can do wonders to keep them from getting damaged in wet weather.

I like both of the Gabor ones. Which do you feel more drawn to? IMNSHO, better a little more money spent on boots you like a lot more. Other winter necessities can be fudged a bit. What other winterwear items are on your list.

For suede, if that's what you go with, it's worth buying specific treatment spray and a special brush. (Mine had brass bristles, but perhaps other options are viable.)

Thanks Parsley! I think I already have some suede spray, I got it some time back for my blue suede shoes.

Thanks for the link, Amy. I think I like the black Gabor ones better than the first black Ara boots, but the review says they mark off, which would be bad. Also says they would be great for narrow feet which makes me wonder a bit because they are said to be comfort fit. The light brown Gabor boots are the same just a different color. I'm not sure if I like them better than the taupe ara boots, I think they're both fab. I'm also still looking for a new coat which might be expensive. And I need some more sweaters/tops. I had to purge a lot of worn out stuff in the last year.
