I bought this top in a small boutique at the beach last weekend. I like it with the jeans but not so much with the skirt. My daughter told me that I look like I am dressed for the rodeo. I have not cut the tags and could still return it.
I am thinking about wearing the first outfit to an extremely casual fundraiser for a local animal shelter tomorrow night. Thank you for looking.

How does it look untucked? Some length might balance the shoulders more. I would never be able to wear a shirt like this, but there is a Gap t-shirt right now with similar sleeves that I saw.

Debbie, my mom loves peasant blouses like this. I agree that it looks lovely with the jeans and animal print shoes - the streamlined pieces add a nice contrast to the ruffles. I don't like it as much with the skirt because the volume-on-volume and ruffles & skirt folds look a little too costume-y, like something someone would wear for square dancing. I do like the proportions with the jeans, though. Perhaps just keep the bottoms slim and cut close to the body?

Oh yes, with the jeans it has a stylish-yet-Texas feel Are those animal flats you're wearing? You could also wear it with a bright summer color flat or sandal. Or add a colored belt? or animal print belt for that matter?

I think it's a very feminine nicely neutral top that can be dressed up many ways (black jeans anyone?)

I agree with your daughter, and also not a fan of it with that particular skirt. I can't quite explain it, part square dance, part 70's boho, but not as stylish as #1

Debbie, I'm also wondering if the top is just a little too boho and sweet for your style and if there isn't a better white peasant blouse out there for you that's a little more streamlined and will play better with skirts as well as jeans.

I have been searching for a peasant style blouse that isn't too Sweetheart of the Rodeo so I understand the attraction to this one. I am tempted to like it but I am not sure it is versatile enough to get a lot of wear out of - it's the sleeve. A little too puffy I think.
You have a lot of fabulous choices for your event if you do send this back right? I am going to check the links that others sent you - maybe we can find something to fill this hole.

Debbie I don't mind the top with the jeans however it is quite different to your usual style. I am wondering how much you love it? I know sometimes it's just fun to wear something outside of our norm however sometimes it ends up spending more time in the wardrobe than being worn (this happens to me anyway), but if you love it I think it's workable with stream lined bottoms.

Another thought Debbie- how about wearing with a jacket or fitted cardi. on top? That way you have the bodice showing without too much sleeve?

I have a shirt like this that I wear with jeans on very hot summer days. Can you try it with a fitted slim skirt, like a denim mini, pencil skirt or knit slim midi? I think it is so pretty for casual summer days. I would have been drawn to it too.

You wear this ruffled blouse well, Debbie! I'm loving this romantic streak in your style :).

It looks best with the jeans because you toughen up the integrity. Try it with denim clams and cropped pants too. Or a pencil skirt.

oh, i really like look #1!!! i agree with Angie that it's pairing it with a tough piece that adds spice to the sweetness. And you look great in white and lace, too! But then i am biased, i love mixing uber-femme with rugged utilitarian pieces, so.....

i agree that a jeans skirt, maybe a cargo pencil in olive drab, clams would all look great with this top. And this top also makes a great foil for larger jewelry - earrings, necklace, brooch, or bangle as you wear here. I live in a place with hothothot summers, and nothing beats a loose, floaty blouse for comfort. It's so nice to wear one that's femme and flattering (not boring and blobby as they can be).

That said, i think the first Karen Kane top Kari linked to would look especially nice on you as well Have fun, steph

I think you might find something with the same general "vibe" but maybe that works better. The ruffled shoulders may be just a bit big on this one. Though I do love the white on you and the idea of this romantic style blouse seems good . Maybe putting your hair up would be good with this (it seems like it would work better with a more romantic hair style).

This shirt obviously isn't everyone's cup of tea, but if you love it, who cares what other people think? As for your daughter, rodeos are cool.

I decided to keep it. It won't be an everyday piece but I am OK with that. Thanks everyone for the suggestions I definitely will be trying them.

Debbie, this ain't your first rodeo. ;D You know what you like and you look lovely! I think you will be able to really fit this in better than you think. Slim trousers and tucked into a slim pencil skirt...:)
