I know - Patti Smith returns. I think skinny plaid prevents the PJ look, but it does invoke a very punk/rebel vibe that appeals to me.

I love 'em but maybe a bit too young these days. What I really want is a shrunken plaid blazer to wear with a Fred Perry top, skinnies and lace ups. Tres punk in a way I think I can still pull off.

Definitely fun 80s punk pants I'm looking for a more tonal plaid skinny trouser myself, preferably a gray with charcoal and thin red/aqua plaid pattern; I think it'll let me get a bit of the vibe without TOO much of the vibe, you know?

The plaid wool pants are like what I wore in high school, after we were allowed to wear pants, that is. Classic, and classy. Not sure they have the edge you would enjoy most, Una, but nice. And warm, I'm sure! Very tempting to me, actually, more of the understated dressy look that I like.

The asos red ones are impressive, however for that price, I would think they could do a better job of matching the plaid pattern.

Una, the shape of the llbean pants is nice, but something bothers me about the placement of the lighter stripe across the crotch area. I think you have to look carefully at pattern placement on plaid pants

I must admit that I loved these in the yellow, the blue - and now the red. But after reading the comments, I am wondering if I could pull them off - might be too "young" looking for me! I think you could definitely wear them Una.

The llbeans? Una- just say no. The muted colors, the large print, the shape - all just too blah (IMO) for your style (and mine!) I'm positive you can do better than this!
