Thinking ahead to spring - blue dress?

Yes, I am on SYC and don't plan on falling off just yet! But I am keeping my eyes open for things I know are on my spring list. When I got my last round of returns/deliveries from Old Navy today and decided to keep the gray foldover knit skirt, I no longer needed to think about the blue dress (pic 2) http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/.....=111615022 as another exchange option.
So, I am trying to mend my evil ways and look for a blue dress that's not $13 on sale and a flimsy knit that will likely pill in one season. I was thinking of a woven for starters, but still casual for day wear. I also am thinking of dresses I can add belts to for different looks (also a whole new idea). I kinda wanted a cinch waist or shirtdress but with a little more interest. I think I may have found it and it's in the 'hold' zone. What do you think? And for those hot on the orange bandwagon, this baby comes in a bright orange.

I think you'd get more wear out of #2, realistically. It looks to be more your style, more comfortable, more casual, more able to be paired with skinnies and boots and a big cardi in the winter. Also, I'm envisioning that color with the soft earth tones you've been wearing lately, and I like it!

#1 looks a little bit twee IMO. Especially that kind of sleeve.

I second Rae's points. I can see you being in a happy, lengthy relationship with #2.

I think it's cute but I worry that it's 100% polyester. If it was cotton or a cotton blend I'd definitely give it a go.

Wait, #1 is from ASOS? And it's polyester? Mo, don't do the polyester - especially if there's any possibility that you will move back to a warm climate after Tahoe. I've worn polyester in the heat, and it is not fun.

I love #1 very much; but agree with the others that it appears that #2 seems to be more Mo-style

I also love #1...lots of drapey, hanging ruffle in #2, plus 2 is 100% rayon...I don't think it looks as nice as poly after it's been washed!

Hi Mo, I don't know your age but at least the first dress is best for the younger set to my eyes. Saw a blog on style over 40 about differences between dresses for adults and 'girls' and cap sleeves were not recommended. The second one does not give me the same feeling. So it is thumbs up if you are the romantic type!

#2 seems more like you. #1 is very Zoey Deschanel. : )

Mo, the second I opened the link to the Old Navy dress, I thought, "that calls Mo's name." Your concerns about how long it would last are good, though. Perhaps keep looking for something similar but better quality?

Oh, thanks so much everyone!! This trying to improve things while still being the authentic 'you' can be tricky sometimes. Will someone else get the Asos in orange then, so I can admire it lol?
I originally was thinking of an Athleta sporty type blue dress that I can wear both casually and off to the beach and river rafting with my friends. I do like the ON but sure wish it was just a litlle more durable.
I'll keep my eyes peeled. I have 3 months afterall, lol.
Oh, and Jayne, by the time my Shop Your Closet is over and I will be purchasing said dress, I'll be 42. Gulp. But I swear people think I'm younger. I know everyone says that! ha ha

I love the idea of the blue ruffle dress, but since you have alot of time, I would keep your options open. Something in a poly blend might have more structure and longevity than jersey.
