hi everybody!
everyone seemed to have such a good time with the clue theme week that i really want to keep the challenges coming - we get so much good advice from angie and other style blogs that is sometimes difficult to put into practice ourselves, so group challenges are a good way to push ourselves!
so i think it's time for a new one, and based on the responses here: http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....replies=20, this idea seems to be quite popular, so i hope you play!
we are going to be starting a YLF Challenge Chain. how this works is that everyone who wants to participate, let me know in this thread. there is no limit! the only thing i ask is that you have posted pics before so your challenger has some idea of your style. i'll pick a name at random; that person must choose one other person off the list of participants and issue them a fashion challenge. once that person completes the challenge, she challenges someone else on the list, and so on, until we've covered everyone.
ideas for challenges could range from trying a new trend (safari, boho, etc), colors or styles that you wouldn't normally wear (neutrals, animal print, mixing prints, leggings, etc), giving up a style crutch for a day (i.e if you always wore jeans you could be challenged to wear a skirt), bringing back a trend you wore in your teens, giving a person their own theme for the day - sky's the limit! of course you will want to remember certain restrictions - like weather ;).
i think this might be a great opportunity for those of us in a rut to get a nudge from those who have followed the evolution of our personal styles, or just to get some inspiration.
i hope you will want to participate! seriously, the more, the merrier. i will keep sign ups open till the weekend and announce the first challenger next monday. let me know! :):)

EDIT: this is in my latest response, but i'm also putting it up here in case it gets hard to find.
now, as a general question - do we want to keep it to one thread or individual threads for each challenger/challenge? options:
a. one big thread.
pros: everyone knows right where to go to keep up with the challenge, check if they've been challenged, react to others' responses.
cons: if threads get too long finding a new challenge within a sea of responses could be tricky.
possible solution: since i will monitor both threads closely, i can edit the TITLE to reflect a new challenge; i.e: "ylf challenge chain: hanna's challenge," changing the name as necessary. that way if you're skimming the forum, you'll know IF someone has posted a new challenge, IF you've been challenged, or just that the thread is moving along.
b. individual threads - when you ISSUE a challenge, you start a new thread, titling it "ylf challenge chain: hanna challenges maya to..." (filling in names as necessary, of course!). the participant (maya in my example) RESPONDS to the challenge within this particular thread, then STARTS a new thread to challenge someone else ("ylf challenge chain: maya challenges bella to...").
pros: you always know when a new challenge has begun, and you know that if a new thread has started there has been a response to the old one. plus, you get all the feedback on YOUR outfit in an individual thread and don't have to sort through everyone's responses.
cons: we'd be flooding the forum. well, not FLOODING, since it will happen over a number of days, but it means a lot of challenge posts.
tell me what you think, angie, and everyone participating of course!
