The Pufferless Canuck and the LandsEnd Coat Cage match - you decide!

Two puffers enter the ring, having received numerous nods of approval from my erstwhile fellow Fabbers in my previous thread.
Only one will emerge and keep this Pufferless Canuck warm this winter!

One is a lighter-weight, slightly shorter coat whose navy blue hew would complement all clothing/bag options while still insulating a wearer who tends to run warm.

The other, longer contender brings a more striking shade of blue to the ring, along with an indefinable additional lustre that has some pundits treating it as the favourite. It may be the potentially brunette-friendly colour that's giving it the edge. Or its capacity to see any red-blooded being through a polar vortex. Or maybe it's the mystique of a defending champion trying to hold onto it's title of "Angie's top pick."

So what'll it be, ladies? Will the light-weight coat prove to be just that and be asked to take it's packable traits and use them? Or is Chalet's reign destined to be a short one? Only you can decide!

P.S. Forgive me, I'm in a whacky mood this evening and obviously need to get to bed stat before inflicting any more of my nonsense on y'all. ::) Though the post may be goofy, the request is sincere. Thanks in advance for your help deciding this key question.

I love the Chalet. The color, the length looks nice and warm, and I dunno, somehow it just looks richer to my eye. And brunette friendly too! The other one is pretty too, but it looks more shiny to my eye and I'm not a big fan of shiny. Really don't think you could go wrong with either one!

It's tough. I slightly prefer the Lightweight Packable coat for style, but the Chalet is certainly warmer. I'm not sure how cold it gets in your neck of the woods but if you are in Canada you might have to go for warmth. Especially if you walk a lot outside.

Which one are you leaning towards? I agree with Laurie, both choices are fab and will look beautiful on you.

I also vote the Chalet. I agree with the others that it looks less shiny and the color is great. I think the longer length is a bonus point too, it looks like it would definitely keep you warm.

I prefer a shorter jacket is I am sitting more (driving or taking a bus) and a longer jacket/coat if I am going to be outside more. I like the brighter blue of the packable but prefer the matte finish of the chalet. Clearly, I am no help at all.

I have a hip length puffer from LE and my mom has a longer one and we both find them to be well-made and comfortable. I doubt you could go wrong with either.

I vote for the second one. It is longer and less shiny. It would be warmer as well. I personally don't like the belt detail on the first one. This is coming from someone who loves belts.

My money is on the lighter-weight, packable coat, Michelle. The belting gives it a nice bit of stucture and I adore the colour, which is greyed navy that I think will be really flattering on you. FWIW :).

I think both would be great options. Have you tried them already? For me, it would depend on where in Canada you are located weather wise. Are you looking for a coat for the hardest days of winter - what I call the "big gun coat"? Or, are you looking for something a little less serious that can work for marginally milder days - you mention you run warm.
If the second is the answer then I would go for the first one.

I prefer the packable one. To me, the lighter weight, the defined, belted waist, and even the shininess make it look sleeker. Although the chalet one looks good too and, if you really need a super-warm coat, that trumps all.

Pragmatism is overtaking me...I think that the Chalet is the one for a Canadian Winter.

I like both but have a slight preference for the 2nd (longer) one. The color is beautiful and you have the added length, warmth and hood option (if you would need that).

Hi Michelle - so nice to see you posting again. I think you'll be plenty warm in either of these. My slight preference is for #1. I love the classic navy colour and the soft sheen of the fabric. I wouldn't be concerned about the shininess, in fact if you look at some of the really expensive puffers like Moncler, Feyem or Luhta, their fabrics are quite shiny too.

I much prefer the style without the belt. And the length is excellent. I just can't imagine you needing to fuss with a belt while holding Reva.

I like the first one because I prefer the navy colour. But Angie certainly has a good point about the belt. Personally, I'd choose whichever coat is warmer.

PS your write-up had me laughing

I like the belt-less coat that Angie linked to for you, either in smoky plum (a dark berry burgundy) or the Neptune blue ( looks more of a teal than cobalt on my monitor). The plum is more neutral than the blue but still has color.

I vote for the warmer of the two! I hate being cold. I think the Chalet will be warmer.

My tiny style gene tends to disappear in the winter though.

I like the navy one but I have 2 packable downs and they are not super warm. Definitely not polar vortex warm. So my vote goes to chalet.

I love love the packable, but going with warmth and less fussiness (i.e. no belt) makes more sense!

Not sure what you decided, Michelle, but I tried the packable coat in LE yesterday. It is lightweight and fits well, but the belt buckle is copper which seems at odds with the available colors. I bought it anyhow and will experiment to see if it can be worn sans belt.

I don't know what you decided either, Michelle, but here are my two cents for what they are worth. While I agree with Angie and others that a belt can be a hassle, I see from your profile that you like to highlight your small waist, so I wonder if that belted coat might be just perfect for you??? As someone without a small waist, I envy you and I would probably jump at a chance to highlight one whenever possible. Still, I do like the Chalet as well. I don't think you can go wrong.

BTW, your post titles are very, very hard to beat these days.
