the picture perfect challenge: day 3!

i figured it may help to have these pictures posted early so you can start thinking of outfits early!

day 1 and 2 have been resounding successes, and i am SUPER excited for this next picture, because i'm a big board game geek:

for michelle:
the picture is set against the background of a blurry zig-zag wallpaper -- the pattern is like static on a tv screen, almost. there's a girl standing on a pile of board game boxes. all you see of her is a pair of dark blue jeans cuffed up to the ankles, and feet stuck in a pair of high cream colored shoes with a wooden wedge heel. the games are, in order from her feet to the ground: mille bornes, skip bo, yahtzee, rack-o, hangman, scattergories, aggravation, jenga, life. the background is sort of muted, so the colors of the board game boxes really pop, with bright blues and reds and greens and yellows.

can't wait to see what this one brings! on a related note -- what are your favorite board games? i'm sort of upset scrabble isn't in this picture. or snakes and ladders. or clue! grrr.

Don't laugh at me but I've always liked Mouse Trap! Reminds me of my childhood. Otherwise, I have never been much of a board game player myself. Maybe that is because I was the youngest one and my elder siblings always won - and were ruthless about winning. Not very good sports.

Okay I could get into a big psychological side-trip here... but that is what is kinda cool about this photo. It makes you sink back into the past. It has a vintage appeal. Reminds you of your childhood.

Hanna, I *love* this whole challenge, but my schedule is too topsy-turvy this week to really participate. For example I only got a shower around 4 pm today and dressed to go out for about an hour. (Grrr... but at least I *did* get dressed instead of going out in gear!) In my head I am playing along imagining what I might wear, and enjoying seeing what everyone else wore.

You are so creative to come up with this idea! This is the best challenge yet.

I was very drawn to the idea of colour blocking but have an important formal training day on back office management systems to attend so I have sumitted DD1 for this challenge instead

Rena, I love that you manage to look very funky and age appropriate at the same time.

Hanna, you wear brights so well, I'm very jealous.

I have read DD her comments, I said 'they love you' and she replied 'I love me'. I predict trouble ahead with her LOL.

Hopefully I will be able to participate properly tomorrow as this challenge is so much fun.

I was in a mad rush doing an unexpected airport run so I have nothing to show today. Sad considering I loved the possibilities presented by that lovely picture!
But I'm loving the interpretations so far.

These are so much fun! I've been too busy this week to try for pictures but am dressing with the photos as inspiration. My favorite popular board game is Scrabble, but no one will play it with me. I also love Mastermind.

Rena - You have put together a stellar "smart casual" outfit. I love the cross body bag.

Roseand Jean - DD is too cute. And she is already full of such confidence... you might be right about trouble ahead.

Hanna - I love the combo of the yellow jacket with the red dress. You make me want to run out a buy tons of primary color pieces.

It's probably not super season appropriate but how could I not wear this top for this challenge? Of course the picture made me think of the 70's right away. That is when I was playing all of those games. This is something I might have worn back then when doing so.

I was immediately drawn to the combination of turquoise and red in the picture. The embroidery details on the blouse remind me of the playfulness of the picture and a jean skirt completes the look.

Both the blouse and the skirt were gifted to me by mother-in-law. (They arrived in the infamous care packages at different times :))

I need to run but I will be back to comment on your outfits later.

Oh wow, I love the playfulness and bright colors that came out from this challenge - RoseandJoan's adorable daughter, cute prints and colors, and Kristen's hilarious Donna Reed picture. I had so much fun looking at the results.

I wasn't able to pull one out today because I wanted to dress somewhat conservatively for my first day of work, but I think I'm going to come back to this challenge later & try to come up with something.
