I think that "perfect fit" becomes especially important when you have specific style goals. For example, if you are on Team Polished - it's a no brainer. If you strive to look elegant, dressy, chic, crisp, sophisticated, minimal and lady-like - perfect fit is an important aspect to creating that vibe.
However, "perfect fit" becomes less important (but of course still important in order for garments to look somewhat attractive) when you'd rather strive to look arty, edgy, retro, vintage, bohemian, maximal, casual and RATE.
