The Leather Trend ... at Work?

I have seen many professional ladies with beautiful leather blazers (one in a beautiful emerald green that had me follow her from one building to another - then realize I was in the wrong hallway - just because it was absolutely gorgeous!), but I don't think a leather blazer is really the way I want to wear the leather trend this fall.

I love leather (lol, let's be honest here - it'll be pleather) skirts, but at the same time I'm worried it's going to be too much for work. I am thinking of going with looser fits and longer lengths, and colours other than black.

I also found this skirt online (1/2) - it has just an accent of leather; do you think that will be a safe way to play with the trend without being like OMG LEATHER (3/4)?

PS: The length is going to be just above the knee or on the knee for me.

I think a leather accent or panel would be the way to go at work.

Lyn, I work in a fairly conservative environment. I'm not sure what your environment is like, but seem to recall you saying that some people dressed excessively casually and others very formally. Has that changed? Perhaps you can wear whatever you want. In my office, I sometimes wear a leather jacket, but feel like that's pushing it. Instead, I usually opt for smaller touches of leather, i,.e. leather binding on a jacket or something like in that first skirt.

Yes, I think the leather trim would be perfectly appropriate. If I do the leather trend, it will be that way as well. Even though I probably could get away with a full leather item at work, the truth is I think I would be too hot in it all day. I don't wear any of my leather jackets as indoor jackets because of that unless the heat is not working or something at work.

I'd do only trims or panel or waistband. There are a lot of such items offered this year. Also, full leather behaves differently when you're moving and working with people and I don't actually think it works as well IRL. Skip the pleather skirts (for work) and keep upgrading footwear.

Thanks :3 I will definitely try a leather trimmed skirt, although there is a merlot one that is calling my name.

@ Amy - It definitely hasn't changed, after 10 pm, I am the only one in "clothes" and everyone has changed to hoodies and scrubs - which I understand because they sleep in the hospital (we generally do not) and I definitely stood out in a negative way, garnering comments like - "It's after 10 pm. Scrub time." and "Everyone looks ugly after 20 hrs."

i think a leather trimed or accented skirt would be perfectly fine for work. i also work in a pretty conservative place, and while i would never wear a leather skirt or pants, i have worn my NAS leather vest (with a jacket over it) and a leather sleeved tee shirt, and felt fine. this fall i am going to add a leather blazer/jacket to the mix as well.

I remember reading in People Style Watch about how to wear leather at work depending on what environment it is. I'm sure the trimmed skirt in 1/2 would be totally acceptable. And it's cute!

Wow, that's a great skirt! I would definitely wear it to work!

I wear my leather pencil skirt to my business semi-formal office. But I feel like I have a little more fashion latitude because I'm very senior, so take it with a grain of salt!

Leather trimmed seems the way to go. And this is the year to find it!

I think leather trimmed is the way to go. It looks like it may be a bit easier to style than an all leather one if you're worried about your office.
