So after a couple years of editing and purging and evaluating all the different versions of wardrobe management styles, I have settled on the 100 Hanger Wardrobe. Basically, this means that I have 100 hangers in my closet and that is all I get. These 100 hangers are for the FULL YEAR and include pretty much everything I own EXCEPT for my dresser and some shelves in the closet. I think I'm happy with this!
- I have been sticking to a firm one-in-one-out inventory management system that is working for my smallish closet.
- I like having ALL my clothes available all year since most of my stuff can be worn all year by layering. I have found that if I store stuff away seasonally, then I forget about it.
- I like seeing how all my colors go together.
- I've been moving stuff (like tanks and camis) that were previously in my dresser to hangers and now I am finding that I am actually wearing them. I have many more layering options at my fingertips.
I suspect that I can get my wardrobe down another layer of the onion but I want to live with this a while and make sure that it satisfies my need for variety and I can be clothed for all the various events in my life with this volume of clothing in the wardrobe.
Does anyone else use a number of hangers as a method of wardrobe management? Any hints or tips you have found to make it interesting?
