Teva Sandals?

I am looking for feedback on the Teva Women's Pretty Rugged Leather 3 Sandals. Does anyone here have them?

Comments and feedback is welcomed as always.

I have included pictures of the ones I am thinking about getting. The colour is "bridger".

They also come in black as well. I love a black sandal but a black sandal makes my foot look too stark.

I already own a pair of teva sandals but am in need of a new pair.

I do a lot of walking in the summertime. I am hoping that these sandals will accommodate that as well. They will give me a change from my sneakers. I am going to look for a new pair of them as well. I like the Saucony brand. That is another day though.

I do require this type of sandal to accommodate a dorsi strap I wear on my right foot for my dropped foot. The wearing of this strap gives a more choices than wearing my full brace. This will be my third year using the strap.

Unfortunately no heels and no fancy shoes for this gal.. big sigh

Have you considered Teva FI Lites? Similar footbed and loads more options on colours with their funky braid designs.

Found three pair on Teva's website.
I am kind of liking the red ones.. Will I get a lot of wear from this colour?

I know that red footwear is fun. What about the turquoise ones? The second pair in the blue is real close to the colour sandals I already have.

Decisions decisions .. Help me decide.

One thing to watch with Teva sandals is whether the back strap is adjustable (with velcro) or not. I have one pair I love that is adjustable and allows me to fit it just right for my arch. I did not notice that the second pair I bought is not adjustable and it holds my foot too far forward on the sole. Ouch. [When I grab these I step on the back strap with my heel :-(, should probably just cut it off.]

Another thing which might be important (for travel/carry-ons?) is the different weights of each model. My comfy pair weighs 475 grams, the uncomfy pair weighs 100 grams less.

Just kidding...I really do gravitate towards red shoes but I think you should buy what works with your wardrobe.

@ Laurinda Good advice. I did not take the back strap into consideration nor the weight. My old ones have the adjustable back strap. Looks like the Teva llites do as well. They would also be lighter on the feet than the leather ones.

@ Suz --- I am so leaning towards the red. Hubby likes the red ones too. I do have a few items the red ones will work with.

I am hoping the red is like a tomato red which works well with so many colours.
I am still undecided though.

Love the colored versions -- I think when you have to limit your choice for health reasons, you can at least kick it up with a bit of fun in the color! Actually, I vote for both red and turquoise, if your pocketbook can take it! It sounds like you've worn out your last pair, maybe trading off between two pairs would be just as economical in the long run.

I have a pair of Teva Leather in Black. I love the look, slightly more dressier looking than the other styles.

Here is my complaint, though, and a possible solution.
The complaint:
Even though these shoes are said to be microbial, they do start to smell over time. They are so comfy you want to keep wearing them. One of the plus sides of TEVAs.
Like the rubber sole TEVA, the insides, even though a soft fabric, will start to smell bad and based on what I've read online it's because the grooves in the shoes harbor dead skin and bacteria.

To prevent smelling, make sure you either:

1) Get an extra pair, so you can alternate shoes
or
2) Clean out the grooves after each wearing. Even if you have smooth feet, it's a natural process for skin to shed and when it interacts with bacteria it causes a smell. .

You can use the edge of something like an emery board and clean the grooves inside the shoes after each wearing.

I like the red ones.

@SandiC - That is a good idea.. I never thought of using an emery board.What a great idea! On my other ones I used an old toothbrush to clean the grooves.

The colored ones look like a lot of fun. You know blue will work, since it's what you had before. But it could be fun to have a new color (or two)!

My husband has a pair of brown leather ones like the ones you originally showed. They have worn very well; he's had them a few years. Of course, sandal weather is fairly short for us some summers.

My dad has the leather men's version and wore them for years. Not such a long sandal wearing time span here, though. I think they definitely look more clunky than the other versions. I personally have a pair in pink/black/grey, but I never enjoyed wearing them that much. I much prefer my Birkenstocks.

Ruby, I think we are shoe sole mates. I had a pair of teva's much like the ones you are looking at and wore them to death for everything from climbing trails in Banff to bumming around town. Saucony is also my running shoe of choice and I recently bought another pair for a vacation. I think I have at least 5 pairs.

I really like the leather pair and find them a bit less casual than the nylon version but hear you on the color options. I do think any of the ones you are looking at would be a great choice.

@Firecracker - the summer sandal season is short here too as well. That is if it even comes this year. It is brrrrr out there again today

@Astrid - Short sandal wearing weather here as well. Birkenstocks are a very nice sandal. I have a pair myself from before, unfortunately I have no way to keep them on due to my dropped foot.
All footwear needs a back of some sort and the ability to be able to use a strap to go from the front of the shoe to the ankle strap I wear. No slip ons unless I can get the strap attached to the front of the shoe.

Rubygirl, what about Birkenstock sandals? I don't wear the slip ons either, they feel too much like house shoes to me. I have the sandals called "Bali".

I wore the canvas version of those a lot (they ones you currently have)... until I discovered these ones from ECCO.

If you have the chance to check them out, please do. They fit your foot much more solidly than the Teva's and are so so comfortable (well, they are for me anyway!). I think they have changed them a bit as mine aren't called "off road", but they look identical.

And they come in tons of colours. The silver caught my eye

@Astrid - Nice looking sandal. I will see if I can find a pair locally so I can check them out. I am in Canada and I see that our softmoc store does not carry them. However I am going to see if I can find them to check them out. Thanks again for the heads up! I was going by what our store here have for Birks. I have never checked the Birkenstock website out.

@Elizabeth P .. The ecco sandals look intriguing too.Looks like Softmoc and Cheslers both carry them. I will indeed be checking them out. Thank you!

Thanks. It's a German brand and we have whole stores selling them here, offering the complete range. So I'm fairly "in the know".

@dianthus - Yes shoe soul mates for sure Thank you for the feedback on the leather Teva sandals. I love my Saucony's. One of the girls at work gave me the heads up on them. I have a really high arch as she does and she said the most comfortable pair of sneakers for her were the Saucony's. My current pair are still wearable but I do plan on getting another pair.
I sure hope the weather gets warmer soon. I miss walking to work. The sidewalks are not feasible here to walk to work.

I like the colourful ones. They're lively. Brown can be grubby.
