Tell me about the J.Crew Tippi sweater

All the pictures I see on the internet show the Tippi (not the cardigan) worn kind of form-fitting, preppy and precious, which isn't my style. I love the wide range of colors it comes in, however. For those familiar with the Tippi sweater, would it work for a tall person? I need my tops to be at least 25-26" long. Would it work to wear it oversized if I sized up? Is it itchy?

Forum member Roxanna posted her tippi sweater about two posts ago. It fits her a little bigger than what you normally see on the internet.
I sized up one size past my usual, and was able to get the arms to be less tight. There is also good length in the torso.

You can't wear this with much on underneath. It is very, very thin. It is more like a top.

Thanks Smittie. I'll look for that post. I'd want to wear it more like a top. Reviews on jcrew.com mention the tight arms, too.

I have a bunch of tippi sweaters- I like the 3/4 sleeve and merino wool. It would be amazing if it were a v-neck but the crew is nice too. I agree with Smittie that it is more like a top. They are thin so if you wear a patterned shirt or one with breast pockets it looks bad. I typically wear the Uniqlo heat-tech undershirts (they really need to come out with a 3/4 sleeve one). I have purchased both my regular size and one size up- I hand wash and find there is some shrinkage. Does JCrew offer a tall option? I am 5'5" and they hit at hip/high hip.

There's no tall option, unfortunately. J. Crew has loads of options in suiting, pants, jeans, dresses and buttoned shirts, but beyond that, nada. Oh well.

If you're 5'5", the Tippi might not work for me. I'm 5'10".

Forum member Sveta who is very tall has a Tippi sweater. I don't own one but I have tried a few. As others say, they are more like tops than sweaters and you may want to size up from your regular J. Crew size to avoid a super snug fit. Lovely, though. Angie wears them a lot.

Thanks @smittie for the callout! @Anne, I have abotu a dozen Tippi sweaters - if you look through my WIWs you'll find me wearing some of them. Mine are about 2 sizes too big now so I wear them oversized. I am 5'3" for reference and they come to mid-hip on me, so they may be too short for you. I typically wear them with thin silk blouses or camisoles underneath.

I'm almost as tall as you, 5'9". I purchase a size medium and the torso seems long enough. I also look for 24-25" length minimum in tops, especially when I am not wearing something hi GN waisted.

They changed the fit recently and added petite sizing and made the regular size significantly longer. I don't like the fit as much but it may work for you!
