Tapered slouchy trousers - What do you think?

My new ink blue trousers have arrived. This is a completely new silhouette for me. I have plenty of ideas for how I want to wear them, and am excited because they definitely feel fresh and new to me. So, I love the trousers, but do they love me back? You can be honest!

1. With blue & white striped sweater and purple ankle boots.
2. With tucked in shirt, grey belt and grey booties. This tucked in & belted look is very new territory for me as well. Can I get away with it?
3. With blue turtleneck sweater, teal pleather jacket and grey booties.

I like them tucked best on you. It's hard to see the contrast in the colors on picture #3.

100% love! Thumbs up Those pants love you back. They do look fresh in the best possible way. And that pendant necklace - wow! Just the right length on you, and adds so much interest. You look fully styled up for autumn!

I like these pants!

like them best tucked when you can see the waist, rather than having the bottom of the top end over the pleats.

Could #1 be scooched up a tad to end at the waist?

This is a quibble; I love all 3 looks!

You wear them well. I think they look great, particularly in #1. I do think they look best with a slim tucked in top. With that much volume in the pants, it seems to me that a slim tapered jacket would be best, but I am not sure without seeing it.

Tapered slouchy trousers are my favourite item for Autumn - with long sleeved dresses and faux fur as a close second. So hip, cool, modern and practical. Love them, Inge!! LOVE.

I absolutely prefer them with a tucked in top. To my eye, that's the point of the trousers. Tuck your polo neck into #3 and it's perfection. Try your blue shirts too. Denim shirt? New AT turtle neck? Tuck in the striped top?

Transcona Shannon, you'd have to be careful with the pleats in this style of trouser. Flat front would be better.

These look wonderful on you! I will go completely against the grain and say that I prefer them with looser, slouchier tops, or layered looks as in #3, but I can see that I am firmly in the minority :).

Angie: absolutely, I'm going to try all of your suggestions, this was just the beginning:-)
The ink blue is a fantastic colour, isn't it. Definitely one of the reasons I bought this particular pair.

Isis: Yes, I think I can pull up the sweater a bit, or try tucking it in as Angie suggested.

Jonesy: * smile*, I'm a fan of this looser look too (I love that outfit you posted!!), and definitely won't hesitate to wear outfit #3 as is, even if we are the only ones who really dig it:-)

Denise: I would love to try that, but the trousers are super narrow at the bottom and it looks a bit weird if I roll them up. Hm, maybe I need another pair for that!-)

Aida: It really is worth the effort to try and find the trousers you like. I know you'll look amazing!

It's fun to see that some of us really love the volume on volume look and others prefer a more streamlined silhouette. I actually love both and these trousers give me the option of experimenting some more with both looks.

I expected not to like these because I am not on board yet with this silhouette but you look amazing in these. I think you have managed to keep that Inge elegance. Ink blue is smashing and so hard to find. I love the tucked look but also really like with the leather jacket. You are a fashion forward women!

Inge you are the perfect model for these trousers. Your cutting edge style leaves no doubt that these are fresh and of the moment!

I actually like the knitted sweaters untucked (pic 1 and 3). I think it makes the trouser pleats seem soft and draping, and doesn't look bulky to my eye at all.

These look nice on you, but my eye (and mind) are still trying to see this style as modern and not 80s redux. After all these years, just when I thought we'd all agreed that pleated front trousers with tapered legs are not particularly flattering, they come back in style. Am I alone, or just hopelessly behind the times when it comes to this silhouette??

I love these on you, Inge! I was *this* close to picking up a pair of slouchy pants like this but couldn't quite figure out how I would wear them. You look amazing in these! I think they have an 80's vibe but you make them look so fresh : )
