Descriptions of your daily ensembles

Tanya week of 02/09

Things have been quite hectic recently at the lab so I am not able to spend as much time here on the forum as I would like. So I am only getting to posting outfits from last week now. Some of them are built around the pieces from that big shopping spree from two weeks ago. I apologize for the weird yellow cast in the last photo, I don't know why that happens sometimes.

Favorites are the striped sweater-- so striking and the H&M sweater dress-- I'll take one please. But you know the drill-- SMASHING all week! Inge and I were agreeing that we never get tired of the compliments. You set the standard with your weekly posts and keep the bar high. ;) And it's just fun to see you.

Tanya,
You are amazing! My favorites are Monday and Sunday, I like the spring colors. I also love the tunic dress and and the bright blue top with the white sweater.
Gorgeous!!
When is your next dance competition?

Thank you ladies!

Patience, you can count me in the group that never tires of the compliments :) In certainly improves my mood in these not-so-happy days in the lab.

GG, funny that you ask, my next dance completion is this Sunday, it is at BU. There were no new dresses available so I have to wear the old green one, which is too short. And I do not have the nerves this time to go through five applications of self-tanner on five consecutive days, so I'll just go as my natural ghost-pale self. I hope that it will go better this time, last competition was a huge disaster. My practice tonight has been so intense that my thighs hurt like crazy, as if I did hundred slow squats in a row :)

You layer so well! It looks effortless, you really pull all of the looks together well. My favorite is the sweater dress outfit.

Wow it sounds like your dance practice was intense and I hope you do well in the competition on Sunday. Is pale skin good at all for these competitions? Is the self tanner a must? I like pale creamy skin these days but I don't know how it translates under the lighting. Do you have to pile on the makeup like they do on Dancing with the Stars?
You had a great stylish week as usual. I thought you had gotten a second pair of Docs because they look brownish in the picture.
I like the swingy sweater jacket on you on Friday and the picture in general is very nice with the way you are posing. The jeans look perfect on you.
All week was great. It's so fun to see your pictures. Thankyou for sharing.

Hi San, pale skin is not good, but I am only competing Standard ( the costumes are long gowns), not Latin ( with very skimpy costumes), so you can only see my shoulders and ankles, so I can hopefully get away with it. I will actually apply one of those gradual body lotions with a self-tanner for a few days, so I am not going to be fluorescent white, but nowhere near the real self-tanner.

Yes, I do have to pile make-up like on Dancing with the Stars, and maybe even more. It is basically like stage make-up, and it involves, among other things, crazy fake eyelashes, fake nails and tons of glitter. The hair is even worse, beacuse it has to be an updo that will survive through all the sharp head movements in Tango. So you start with a tube of extra-strong gel, and millions of pins later end up using half a can of hair spray on it :) It takes me tree hours to do my hair and make up.

How fun and exciting though. You do all this hair and makeup for yourself?

Posted 9 months ago

Yep, I do it myself. It is pretty difficult to get someone else to come to your house and do it at 5 am if you need to leave by 8 an be ready to dance by 9 am. I actually do not mind doing the make up at all, other than the fake lashes, it takes me a couple of attempts to glue them right. But the hair is a major pain, especially since I can't quite see how it looks at the back.

Another fabulous week! I love the sweater dress and Docs look, and the color combo of the navy jacket and lilac blouse is terrific. I'm probably odd man out but I really like the H&M jacket over the striped turtleneck; it broke up your shape differently than your other outfits, which was a unexpected change of pace.

You layer so effortlessly. Actually everything about your outfits is effortless.
I like the casual outfit from Friday. I also love how you wore the white cardi opened with the blue print peeking out, and you look great in lavender!

Tanya - I'm excited to get a report back on your competition. I love to hear about your dancing.

As usual, you look great all week. I especially love the outfits with the striped tops. They are very you and yet a bit different than what we see. I think it may be that they are a bit more casual but yet still very stylish and sophisticated. I know you've been pondering the more casual looks a little lately and think you've done a beautiful job of it.

Good luck this weekend, Tanya!

Love you in the grey & purple combo of Tuesday. And the new CM blue shirt on Saturday combined with the cream sweater is just killer! Love it!

Thank you ladies, you are very sweet.

Alecia, I will report how the competition went. I really hope it is going to be better this time, otherwise I will be hearth broken :(

I LOVE that shade of purple on you! (Tuesday). Thursday and Saturday’s outfits are KILLER. Love those Me Too booties. Straight out of In Style Magazine, darling. Wow. SO stylish!

It's *too* difficult to pick a favorite, but I love you in purple! That purple cardi over the grey patterned shirt is wonderful on you. You're such an inspiration.

I am deeply humbled.

Tanya you've had another awesome week! Hope the stuff going on at the lab isn't getting to you too much. I really love the last outfit - the top is great with its waist tie and the houndstooth COH pants are lovely!!

p.s. good luck in the dance comp!!
