I am so in love with this Burberry coat, but I am supposed to be SYC! And even if I wasn't, what am I thinking?

Here are the pros:

1. It's a Burberry.
2. It's convertible.
3. I do not have a dressy trench. Or any trench.
4. My puffers are all casual and beat -up, duct-taped, have campfire burns, etc.
5. I just dumped a whole bunch of coats.
6. It's warm (not standing outside at the ski lodge warm, but about-town warm).

Here are the cons:

1. It's nearly $1,000.
2. It's nearly $1,000.
3. It's nearly $1,000.

Does Burberry ever go on sale? I even went as far as to get the measurements. It's 17" cropped and 34" uncropped in my size, which is perfect, although it seems weird since i'd expect the average customer to be taller than me!

Financially, I'm in an odd place. We are about to get $1,200 in "free" money from the state (you know, the annual profit on oil dividends all residents get here). Generally that goes to pay for something we need or want, except for DS whose money goes to his savings. In addition, my mom just called to tell me that this piece of family property just sold in India, which my siblings and I get a part of - it's not a huge amount, but it's a bit of a windfall since we never expected it to go through. 95% is going to DS's college fund, but a portion is mine to play.

On the other hand, I just spent a LOT of money for me on two indoor leather jackets. I must be in sticker shock from my last purchases to think of spending this kind of money on anything that's not a vacation.

Deescalation, please!
