Hi, i'm new to the board, although i've been reading Angie's site for a while now. i love the first class presentation and content of the youlookfab community. Anyhow, what prompted me to finally sign up is that i saw Talbots has a special 20% off coupon for select customers only for this weekend. I just started browsing talbots around six months ago, (i'm 28, so it was never on my radar) . I love to project a style of conservative sophistication (think Rachael bilson). So i've been eying a few select jackets and a dress (the one Vanessa Williams wore) at the store for few weeks hoping for a slight discount since their all fairly expensive items. Unfortunately, i guess i haven't bought enough stuff their yet to qualify for the discount. so i was hoping maybe someone on the board whom wasn't planning on utilizing the coupon wouldn't mine passing it along.

shux, as i write this post i realize the dress is on back order until november and one of the jacket's i covet is already sold out. (here are the items that are in my purview)

Christine- It looks like the Talbot's 20% off is only available if you open a new credit account and they're offering 15% off if you join their Classic Rewards Red club. These offers are good through Nov 1. You could call their customer service number and I'm sure they would help you.

BTW, your choices are lovely. Keep in mind that Talbot's generally runs a bit big.

Christine, welcome! I just ordered a bunch of stuff from Talbots, including the cafe-print blouse you linked to. I think their quality is really good, but the clothes definitely run large. Let me know if you want more details on how I found their sizing.

Another welcome from me, Christine! It’s hard to suggest which items will work because we don’t know what you look like, but in the spirit of nothing ventured, nothing gained, try Talbots and size down one size on their items. Medusa is a funky lass and she did really well at Talbots!

thank you, everybody, so much, for the helpful advise. I am taking your advice with respect to the sizing "dilemma", and will let you know how it works out. Has anyone else noticed that things sell out really fast on talbots.com. I was disappointed one of the jackets was already sold out, as it was just released in their most recent catalog. Any opinions on the talbots pants, how is the quality and fit. I'm kind of a pants and jacket feen.

Christine, when I was in the store on Friday, they were offering it to everyone. Plus, the salesperson told me that if I was to order on line this weekend, to put in the promotion code TREAT. I didn't try it because I purchased something there. My daughter is your age, and she, too, is starting to look more carefully at Talbots. You can't beat the quality. Your choices are youthful.
