SYC... Rules?

Were there ever a list of rules for SYC laid out? Does this include accessories and things like leggings? I seem to remember somewhere that these things were exempt...

... but if they weren't, it's okay; I really shouldn't wear leggings to work. *sigh* I want to though. I think they just like to penalize people who like to show off their legs.

Everyone kind of makes up their own rules and caveats. If you want to start a new SYC challenge, I'd suggest starting a thread and laying out what your rules will be. Then others can join and decide on their own rules. I know that Rae is wanting to SYC, and Mo and I are Shopping our Budgets. I'm sure you will find plenty of support.

Well I am/was, as Khris said, SYBudget but I spent too fast so I'm essentially on SYC until July 1. I have $11.50 spare to spend out of June's budget lol. I do need, and will buy if I find it, a floppy sun hat no matter if it runs into July's budget or not. Other than that, I am strictly not buying anything. When SYB I included everything from sunglasses to bras to running shoes. That is me, though. I know some don't count gear or accessories. So all that to say, it's up to you!

When I did SYC I allowed for "gear" purchases since I knew I might need new runners during that time.

I did SYC to see if I felt I had "enough" clothing and wanted to learn to remix and get creative so I didn't allow *any* shopping for 3 months. (I did go on a bit of a buying spree for Boxing Day which fell right before my SYC started on Jan 1.

I struggled a bit here and there and made the odd purchase during the time (and felt guilty about it too!) but am very happy I completed it. It has changed how I shop and how I view buying clothing dramatically!

Think of the *reasons* you want to SYC and then make up your own rules. Post your rules (for accountability) and invite others to join you.

Not me though, 3 months in 2011 was enough for a little while! LOL

I figured the rules were kind of unique to each of us. For me: I'm not buying anything - except during my upcoming trip to Amsterdam, if something special catches my eye. Other than that, my wallet should remain closed. I never want to stifle creativity though, so if I feel like sewing or making things, I'm still going to do that, even though it'll add to my current wardrobe. I'm actually hoping that not shopping will encourage me to design and sew a lot more than I have been.

When I look at what I have in my closet, I really have no need to shop throughout spring/summer, so my goal really is to shop my closet until the weather cools down. Since in places that aren't Manitoba, it has actually started to warm up
