Suggestions on how to style bright plaid shirts for summer

I am really drawn to all the lovely color mixing in plaid cotton shirts but I don't know what to wear them with...I posted a picture from H&M, anyone got ideas for the 40 crowd? for summer wearing? I am looking for a little confirmation that it isn't a too young style (smiling sheepishly)

Maybe skinny jeans and sandals? You can try skinny jeans in a bright color that picks up the plaid

The bright blue and pink in this shirt would also look great with white jeans, clamdiggers or a white skirt, I think. Perhaps with a metallic shoe or colour-blocked footwear?

An A-line skirt in a fab colour?
Layered under a rugby striped sweater for some fun pattern mixing?
Dressy pencil skirt + cropped white denim jacket?

What a pretty shirt! The suggestion by Victoria about skinnies in a bright color sounds good. White skinnies would work also. Can one be too old to wear plaid?

I've been drawn to them too and am logging the suggestions so far. Jonesy recently posted a cool outfit but I can't find it right now. I think it was plaid top (collar popped) with denim pencil skirt? Well that's what my aging brain remembers and I think it sounds like it would work for any season.

@ Rita, I just ordered your navy/white ginham shirt off Target's website. My store only had that color in a medium. I tried on the large in another color, and you're right it does fit exactly like a misses 4! Nice and long, too which I have trouble finding.

Jayne, the bright ones are scaring me right now. I plan to wear mine much like I wear my chambray shirt, over tanks, with jeans, tucked and untucked, tied at the waist, with my white and blue denim skirts. I have a hot pink A-line skirt and I'll try it with that to, to kind of *tone it down* and *tomboy it up* a bit. It will go with almost everything in my closet except maybe my zebra dress!
