Suede & Patent Leather Shoes in Spring/Summer?

Do you wear your suede shoes in the summer? How about patent leather? I know that there are no hard and fast rules, but was just wondering as I don't want to be seasonally-confused! Or, are these footwear items seasonless?

I purchased the black suede Okala sandals last winter and was wondering if it would look odd to wear them in the summer?

I don't have any suede shoes (I have suede boots only), but I do have a pair of patent leather heels in nude that I've been planning to wear this summer.

From what I remember, plenty of forum members wear their Okalas in the summer. :^)

i wear patent leather year round, but i think the old rule was Easter to Labor day.
i usually don't wear suede in the warmer months simply because my suede shoes are all booties. years ago, i had a great pair of navy suede sandal type shoes, so i did wear those in the summer.

Actually, mostly in warm weather, due to the style of shoes i have that are these materials. Sling back pointy toes, peep toe flats, etc.

In the past, I felt more restricted about seasonally appropriate leather. However, designers and retailers have totally blown that open in the last decade for me. There are so many great shoes out there in what may not have been traditionally appropriate finishes that it is impossible to resist them. Honestly, I love the shift! I could never figure out why suede would be more autumn and winter appropriate (with its rainy slushy gross weather) than it would be summer appropriate. And patent for spring but not autumn? What was up with that.

I've totally embraced the shift. It's another great way to vary the texture and feel of an outfit. What could be more lush and yet relaxed than lovely suede sandals?

I think it depends on the shoe style. For instance, I have black suede lace up booties. For me, they are a fall and winter shoe because they looks heavy. And I think that they would be just plain hot in the summer. But I have a taupe suede mule that will be a spring/summer/fall shoe because it looks lighter and feels cooler.

Thanks Angie...I have a pair of black suede pumps that I am always "not sure" if wearing in the warmer months is really ok...Now i will wear them with confidence ...
