Style Icon Challenge?

I've noticed several threads about style icons many of us share in common and wondered if this is a ripe opportunity for an outfit challenge?

I've never actually participated in a challenge here. Anyone want to take on the challenge of putting together a challenge? (Ha!) or give me an idea of how they usually work? I can come up with a list of 7 icons for 7 days and inspiration pictures.

Nominations for icons? I'd love to see the forum channel Emmanuel Alt en masse!

Cool idea. One of mine is Ines de la Fressange but she might be too similar to Emmanuelle Alt for this exercise. It would be interesting to see how all of us interpret a wide ranging list of inspirations.

Fun. I like Miranda Kerr and Ines. I think Ines is different enough from EA to warrant her own spot:-)

Oh wait, even better: Let's go thru all the French, lol. I feel Ines and Emanuelle are quite different - EA has rock n' roll edge - even tho broadly speaking they may sort of be in the same boat.

Reminds me of one of my favorite writing exercises - duplicating the voices of different writers.

I'm going to throw Iris Apfel into the mix because she is so maximal and colorful I think she'd be fun to emulate and she came up most often in a pinterest search of "fashion icon".

Can someone PLEASE do Anna Wintour.

Ines and Emmanuelle have very different styles. Ines is a lot more classic and preppy - no hard edge. EA likes a bit of hard edge.

You could do a theme per week like vogue editors eg wintour, EA and that Italian one who works for vogue Japan, Anna Dello Russo.
You could have the male Rockstars as another theme...just an idea

I have many style icons, although I don't dress or look like any of them. I simple love looking at what they wear (or wore). Here's my list of BIG names:

Duran Duran, Audrey Hepburn and Anna Wintour are in a league of their own. Then there's Grace Kelly, Brigitte Bardot, Karl Lagerfeld, Jane Birkin, Emmanuelle Alt, Anna Wintour, Cate Blanchett, and Gwen Stefani.

And the smaller names:

My favourite OUTFIT bloggers are Veronica from Bittersweet Colours, and Jean from Extra Petite.

For my own style, I am most inspired by what I see on the streets in my favourite cities like Hong Kong and London. I am also very inspired by this forum and my plus 70 year young clientele.

Hey, Traci! Why don't you just start a thread each day -- put your icon first, and they the rest of us can post to your thread. Keep the same name of the thread running "Icon Challenge - Day 4" so we can find it. Sometimes people will also post their own thread.

I have day 1 ready --- I'm going to try to find some that people won't know........... I'm excited about the first one! Here's a taste:

Beth Ann, that's definitely a good idea. I went ahead and posted the challenge here: http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....hion-icons I realized my timing was somewhat bad because I'll be on vacation starting Tuesday for more than a week, so I may not tend to the challenge threads as diligently as I'd like. I thought giving the list before the weekend will allow for some planning time.

I'm going to try to start a daily thread, but I don't know if I'll be as thorough with pictures and links and timing.

Of course, the whole thing is totally up to personal interpretation, so I can't wait to see your selections!

Our kids just went back to school today. Kinda puts the bum's rush on summer!

Strangely I have never had a style icon...non that I can home in on at any rate. I'll see how the challenge progresses and may join in if someone comes to mind. Great idea Traci. It'll be fun to see what everyone else does for it.
