I thought you might be interested in seeing how I'm doing with my spring/summer 2012 budget and purchases (of course I could be wrong...you may not be interested at all!). This is how I'm keeping myself on track - not just financially but also in terms of not buying what I don't need.

As you can see, the bulk of my budget has been spent on shoes, which were lacking for the spring season. Some of my recent thrift/consignment purchases I did not include in the budget (i.e. the red/white polka dot flowy jacket, the Stuart Weitzman animal print sandals - because they were purchased with the last bit of the winter budget that I hadn't used yet). It also doesn't include my recent purchase of the Docs animal print shoes as my sweet hubby decided to buy those for me as a gift (said they are "hot shoes" and wants them to come from him!).

Since I only have $210 left, I will need to thrift/consign the assorted inexpensive tops and remove the orange handbag from my list, unless I can find one through thrifting. This will leave me just enough for white denim jeans and a green blazer. The LBD sheath dress for work is on the potential "chopping block" and could wait for fall 2012 budget. Anything that I thrift for $20 or less isn't included in budget or purchases as it comes from my "fun money" - but those purchases are limited to 4 per month, because even thrifting can add up if you let it.

I'm curious to know your thoughts on this process - anal retentive or responsible? Does it provide me with wide enough options? This is the first full season I've really worked with a budget and a list and I must say, it's been extremely helpful.
