Something my DH doesn't like...what do you think?

Bryan has a fairly wide appreciation for my ever-evolving style. There isn't a lot he doesn't like.
But when there is something, if I love it, I rock it anyway of course, but I always have that little nagging "what if he's right" doubt in my head.
So I'm enlisting your help.

I get so much use out of my Gray cashmere "swacket" that I'm hoping to use this one in the same way.
I prefer it with the belt it came with, personally, and I plan on wearing it more with skinnies and boots or dresses and boots.
Help?

Gorgeous sweater. I love it. I want one. That being said, I can see why hubby might not appreciate its figure hiding qualities. But do we always have to look like a sexy goddess, I think not!

Honest opinion (and regardless of what you DH thinks) - I don't care for it on you or the model. It's much too blanket like and doesn't flatter you. It looks extremely cozy but there's a lot of loose fabric below the belt that looks like it would need adjusting and end up catching between my legs while walking. I don't recall your gray one, but is it more structured or less full?

Well... it does kind of remind me of Jedi robes. I usually love all your stuff, too, but this isn't my fave.

I really like everything about it -- except that it seems to overwhelm you and not flatter you as much as what we are use to seeing.

I think it's because the weight of the knit is just a bit too bulky, and it's a bit too long in where it's hitting you in front.

This would have caught my eye too to try. I will be interested to see what Angie thinks.

I like your gray one much better. I think it's because of the defined arm shape. It helps compensate for the loose style every where else.

I wonder what you like about it? Maybe it's just that one thing you can look for in another piece? In my opinion, it doesn't flatter you or the model.

qfbrenda might be onto something with the arms. . .

I think the older one looks nice on you and your shape is still in there, defined by the pencil skirt.

The newer one looks like there's too much of it for you and you've reigned it in with the belt. It is absolutely cozy looking, but not nearly as flattering IMHO. . .

I understand the appeal of this -- it looks warm and cozy. But I have to admit, I don't love it from the front view (although I think it looks cute from the back). I think it's the combination of bulk and belt. I want it to see it drape more... or something.

I really like the idea of it. I like it worn best with skinnies (which I don't have a photo of). This is the XS/S also.
I love the side and back view, and the front is just...something isn't right. I dont' know if it's how I have it draped, or what.
What I love about it is that I can wear it by itself over a long sleeve top and black skinnies, or over a dress or printed top for a layering piece.
I actually do love it on the model.
Funny enough, Bryan calls this my Obi-Wan sweater.

My husband would not like this either. I wear our throw blankets around the house like this sometimes. You can make anything look gorgeous, Sarah, but I too prefer your grey swacket. Maybe one of those wrap sweaters with arms, like at Garnet Hill?

I prefer the first one without the belt. It is very roomy and waist surendering which is fine if this is what you go for. However when you try to belt in all this volume it is like sending mixed messages: is it a waist surrender or not? Actually there was a piece in one of the fall issues of InStyle magazine about this trend: if your cardigan is so roomy don't belt it.
I like the grey one on you but it is a completely different style, not as roomy and more body con than another one.

I agree with the others. Not the best look I've seen on you. (Besides the shape, I also don't love light sweaters over dark tops.) Sorry - but I think you can find something else that's killer!

I like it, but ya... it is reading *blanket.* It doesn't seem that *you* to me. I think it's because the edges don't hold an even line.

I'm another return vote. I like it's cozy vibe, but it seems to overwhelm your frame with all the material in the front. Your gray one looks like it has less material in the front.

I can very much see why you are attracted to this type of cozy piece and I wish this one worked better but it's just not quite right, darn.

Sarah, I like the grey much better, too. We all like to be warm and cozy, but I think the camel one is just too much material for pretty you!

I kinda like it, in the way it makes me feel warm when I look at it? Is is soft? Even if it's not K material, perhaps just for bundling up when reading a book?:)

Well, you could look good in a burlap sack, but I like the grey sweater much better.

Not figure flattering in the traditional sense but it is cool and chic. I sometimes can deal with not flattering, I don't know about you. If I saw someone wearing this with black skinnies and booties I would think they were really stylish. If you love it and your budget allows I would go ahead and get it!

I like the idea of this Sarah. In fact I like to wear this sort of thing myself. If anything I think the color is not the most flattering for you and perhaps it's all just a bit big. I do think the grey is insanely gorgous on you.

Hi Sarah! the idea of this garment over skinnies and jeggings is certainly appealing- but IRL it's problematic. For starters, it needs to be shorter on you, like on the model. [The back view on you shows a better, shorter length.] You could try lifting the front hems up, then level and square off the overlapping "apron" area before belting, and finally let the back of the "collar" drape behind a fraction.
Another thought -- this cardy is much more like a cape or a poncho or a shawl than a true cardy. You could try this item styled more like a cape, e.g.
>with no belt, and perhaps the two front panels joined together at bust level with a kilt pin or brooch? and a long drapy scarf over?
> still belted, but with the vertical edges of the two front panels slightly apart all the way down?
> I know this may sound mad, (and the cut may not allow it to sit right) but you could even try wearing this shawl cardy in reverse, so it forms a belted sweater dress.

I know you want this to work, Sarah. But FWIW, I am still with hubby. It's messy. If you were my client, I would still encourage a return.
