Soia and Kyo, Ellen Tracy coat decisions!

Hello all,
I am considering these 2 coats. I actually need both.
#1 Soia and Kyo puffer Angie recommended.
Love it, not sure if collar is too much with my hair and I really need a hood because I do not wear hats. I have another on order that has a hood:

I think the olive might be a better color although I do not mind the brown

#2 Ellen Tracy woo; coat. This is a great color. I could wear it with straight skirts and dresses, it has great layering potential.
Opinions ??

How about getting the second S & K coat?

I just bought that Ellen Tracy coat in grey! (You picked a gorgeous color.) It is very comfy and pretty with simple lines. I haven't worn it yet, but it didn't seem as heavy/warm as I'd like, but it's roomy enough for layers.

For the puffer coat, I prefer the hooded option. I like the bottom detail and the pockets as well. It seems more "you" than the one you have.

The Ellen Tracy is a no-brainer! Absolutely gorgeous and fits perfectly. It looks high quality.

Sorry, Jean, back to you. I LOVE the Ellen Tracy on you; keep for sure. You're absolutely right. That one will work with pants and with dresses and has lots of room to layer.

As for the puffer, I am torn. I like the style of the one you're wearing, but agree the collar presents a small problem and a coat without a hood is not great if you don't wear hats. But the style of the other one (in the link) is so very different it is difficult to advise to order. It's so much more casual. If you need a casual looking coat, I'd say go for it, but if you were hoping for dressier, then maybe reconsider hats?

I'm not sure about the puffer coat, but the Ellen Tracy coat looks divine on you.

Jean - I like the fit of the puffer coat on you and the colour. But I do think the collar competes a bit with your hair. The Ellen Tracy coat was made for you - BUY BUY BUY!!! (sorry...didn't mean to yell)

(Thread hijack. Hi, Suz. I did buy this ET coat in grey...but now with my arm in a sling, I can't take a good pic. But I think the fit was great--roomy w/o being bulky, and the wool is so soft. I'll model it when I can! :-P)

I love the Ellen Tracy wool coat on you - just fabulous. I also quite like the puffer too, but if the neckline/collar is going to be annoying and you don't wear hats, I'd look for one with a hood.

I have to ask - which particular Ellen Tracy coat is this? Last year, I found something similar at Nordstrom Rack, tried it on, fell in love with it, but needed a size smaller - I think it was called Ellen Tracy Kimono coat or something like that. The SA wrote down the style number for me and suggested she could check other stores, but I was in a hurry at the time. I meant to track down the coat in a smaller size by checking with other Nordstrom stores or what have you, but didn't get it done.

I regret that so much! It was particularly soft, and I liked the shape.

Glad you got one in a fabulous colour greenglove - it's perfect on you.

I love the color of that ET coat - It does look a little big in the shoulders to me, but maybe you need that for layering?

The puffer seems like it fits better, but it does compete with your hair - I have that problem, too, sometimes. I can't wait to see the hooded one!

I agree with you about a hood. I rarely buy a coat without one. This S & K looks amazing on you, though!

Why does the Ellen Tracy look short on you? I want it to be a little longer and not sure why.

I think the rust wool Ellen Tracy coat looks gorgeous on you! Perfect color and it's a great shorter coat! If you want a longer coat, how about this one in a similar rust color:

It was too long on me and the sleeves were too long for me, but you look like you're taller than me so it would be perfect if you're looking for a midi length.

I like the 2nd puffer better--the first one is fine, but the darker olive color on the 2nd looks great with your hair.

The S&K coat is sublimely KILLER. And brown puffers are so hard to find, Jean. Definitely keep that one! I have a black S&K puffer that's very similar to this one, but three years old. It still looks new and it's done mileage on the streets of Manhattan.

The Ellen Tracy coat colour is so perfect on you! Perhaps size down if you can? Or does the size work perfectly with all the right layers?

You DO need both. I know that you will wear them a lot!

I haven't looked at the other comments yet, Jean, but I absolutely love this S&K puffer on you. It's an amazing colour, the style is fantastic and I don't mind it with your longer hair at all. I hear you about the hood, but I'd be extremely tempted to keep this one.

Love the silhouette (slightly retro) and the colour of the Ellen Tracy coat too. Definitely a keeper as well:-)

Angie, I agree about the coat but can I wear black boots? They are my winter ones.
The Ellen Tracy is the smallest size. It is a 2 and it is really not too big. I can wear my blazers and leather jackets underneath which is what I want. The sleeves are dolman.
I am posting another picture. i will never find this color again, i suspect which is why I may keep. It will work with my blacks, greens and browns.

The colour is spectacular on you - and I think you're right - this colour might be hard to find in the future, so best to get it now, while you can. Thanks so much for the link to the Lord & Taylor site. There are similar ET coats around, it's just that I rememberd the 'kimono' style in particular being extremely soft and cozy, plus I kind of liked it's slouchiness. It does seem to run a bit big, but I think that's part of the appeal - it'll always work when you're layering up with jackets and so on.

Better listen to Angie on the puffer coat - sounds like she knows that this brand makes good down coats.

The fit looks better in the second picture, and if you need to have leather jackets on under there, then I retract my worry about the fit.
