Size help? K/R Winter white puffer vest

Yesterday I went shopping with a local friend. Among the items we found in my palate were winter white gear from The North Face. I love having a puffer vest and finding one to replace those in my closet that are currently in the wrong palate was a peripheral goal. We happened to cross paths with this vest so I tried it on in two sizes, small and medium. I ended up purchasing the medium. My friend liked the fit of the small better. She said the large took away what little shape I have. I felt a bit constricted wearing the small. In the store I tried it on with a sweatshirt and I experimented by adding a thin fleece top which is what I might do if I were to head out for a walk, or to the grocery store.

These pics are of the medium, because I didn't get any pics of the small. What do you think? Is it too big? There are gaps in the sleeves, there is plenty of air space between me and the vest. That was not the case with the small.

It looks fine to me. You may need to layer under so toosmall would be restrictive.

BTW your colours look lovely.

This isn't too bad, but frankly I don't think the fit is a *10* on you. It looks like you are between sizes in this make and model. I guess it depends upon how particular you want to be and if you can hold out until later in the season when more vests are out.

FWIW, my DD wanted a puffer vest last season. She's on the short side, so we had that dimension to deal with. I think I ordered and/or tried on eight or ten vests before we found one that fit and flattered. (It ended up being a Bernardo like mine and it gave her a waist she doesn't have.)

DonnaF, I need to give this some thought. I have two puffer vests already, both in colors that are not in my palate. I can probably use them with a scarf. I would say that they both have fit issues also. Neither of them are great, but I already own them and I can return this!

Sounds like you need a winter white scarf to tide you over this winter.

Without reading what the others have said, I vote you size down; to my eye it does look a little roomy. It's a beautiful soft white which is a lovely change from the dark colours more typical of winter.

And one outer piece in your colour will transform lots of your darker shirts and jumpers into flattering outfits, so I choose Team Enable :).

Bj1111, I'm working on the winter white scarf. I purchased a lightweight infinity style scarf at White House Black Market, but it isn't warm. It will work wonders the days I have to work in rooms where they can't control the thermostat and blast the heat! I am hunting for a warmer version, and preferably not an infinity scarf!

I love the vest and the colour on you. Will you be wearing bulkier items underneath? If yes then I think the fit will be fine. Otherwise I would try the size down for comparison.

I'd like to see the smaller size. This looks great from the front, but the sleeve fit isn't a 10. But the last thing you need is to not be able to layer. the colour of it is wonderful.

I say that, however I'm not sure having a 10 as a fit for something like a puffer vest is necessary. It's not something I'd probably worry about... I go for colour and practicability. But maybe that's not a good thing!

For outerwear I go for comfort and ease for layering. It's a puffer vest, not a tailored blazer.
