Q&A about individual items, ensembles, and wardrobe

should I stick with jackets?

I had been wondering this, and then saw Rena's comment that she likes jackets better than sweaters because they give her more structure (I think that's what she said)

so here are some of my latest attempts to jump on the bf cardigan bandwagon-

rest assure both of these pieces are going back. http://www.flickr.com/photos/4.....otostream/

here is one I tried in NY&C-- I thought it looked smashing in the dressing room, but looking at the picture I'm not as impressed..

this one seemed matronly, but I'm wondering if the length is better for me...

and now here are some recent jacket attempts

I thought this one looked like I was ready for the march of the toy soldiers, but then looking at the picture, I kindof liked it..

these 2 I tried in Nordstrom Rack- one is a green denim (is that hokey?) and the other a corduroy. I didn't purchase either...

anyhow, I'd love your feedback here- should I just stick with jackets? or am I just trying the wrong kind of cardigans?

Yes - I have said I like jackets better ,they do give me more structure. My shoulders are kind of round and sweater tops put emphasis on that area.Looking at your pictures I really like you in jackets to,better than cardigans ,I think anyway!

I think you can wear cardigans, but you do look really great in a jacket. I don't think you have to stick to one or the other, you just may need to do a little more looking to find the perfect cardigan. Although, if you feel more comfortable in jackets than cardis, then wearing jackets would be a good way to go.

I think you look great in both and it's always good to have a mixture in your wardrobe. As much as I love wearing structured jackets, it's difficult to fit a coat on top of one in the winter and not look like the michelin man.

Of all the cardis that you tried on, I like the pink one the best - the length and the fit in the shoulder and arms is great although it may not really be a "new look" cardi (in terms of length). The first two that you tried on are clearly too big on you. I think you just need to keep looking for a better fitting BF cardi (which I assure you is not easy).

I think it could be good to have a cardigan or three, even if one prefers jackets most of the time. Sometimes it's nice to wear a cardi under a jacket. I actually think you look wonderful in the green NY&C cardi. Preferentially unbuttoned.

I like the top half of the leather jacket, not sure about the bottom half. Maybe there's too much going on, with the buttoning details on top and the ruffles at the bottom. Or it could be just my taste, I like simple clothes. The green denim jacket seems to have a nice shape.

I also like the NY&C cardigan best unbuttoned. (I've had my eye on that cardigan online since I haven't found an affordable long/boyfriend cardigan that I liked yet, and I've decided that I just don't like the extra fabric/volume of cascading cardigans - it feels too floppy and fussy to me.)
There isn't a NY&C terribly close by, but I'm hoping to either order one or get to a store nearby to try it on. Does it run large or small?

You definitely have some adorable jackets! Maybe it's good to have options for either cardigans or jackets depending on whether you need additional structure with the outfit you are wearing?

Kari- NYC tends to run a bit big on most things. That sweater I had on was a small, and I typically wear a 6 or 8 in a dress or blouse. The one thing I did notice about the sweater is that the arms were made quite snug.
