Should I order this coat? (quick help needed)

I would like to update my coat capsule with a roomy one - not oversize, but definitely loose/roomy enough to fit over looser cardigans. Mackage makes some beautiful coats and today I spied this merlot option on one of those flash sales sites. There aren't many left, and I am trying to figure out if this would fit the bill. Does the coat look loose/straight or more tailored to you? What do you think of this style for me?
It is available in both XS and S. Mackage runs a bit small, but I do have one of their coats in XS which is a fitted cut and fits me well. Wondering if S might offer more roominess, but do not want to mess up the shoulder fit. The coat can be returned, but I have to guess the size and go with it. It is quite pricey so I can not order both sizes and return one. Many thanks!

I love Mackage coats and this one looks like a beauty. Good colour, nice slightly looser fit (the back half belt usually means a less tailored fit ) perfect for over heavier sweaters etc. Love the black leather trim and quilted (pic is super small though, can't quite tell) lining. I'd order up a size to an S - my experience has been that they are a small cut and why not err on the side of caution? Good luck - hope to see it on you!

Thanks Lisa! I substituted the lining photo with a bigger one, it is not quilted. Still thinking over...

Gorgeous! I don't have experience with Mackage sizing so not much help here. Personally I'm thinking small for layering options? Oh gosh. Maybe Angie will chime in.

Wow! That is a gorgeous coat. Can you tell by the photo or description if this one is intended to have an oversized fit (or, does it say what size the model is wearing)? If so, you should go with the XS, since that has worked for you in that brand before.

I really like it. I have a burgundy coat and I find it's nice to have color on the monochrome winter days.

Wow gorgeous coat! Hope you snag it. I'm not familiar with their sizing either, but I would think the small is a safe bet if your main goal is a coat that is a touch roomier.

Late, but I would go for the XS- the shoulder detail might look sloppy if over-sized there?

Hmm...it looks tailored to me. If you size up, the sleeves would still be narrow and as Lyn says, the shoulders might be sloppy. Gorgeous coat, no doubt about it, but maybe a cocoon coat style would work better for layering over cardigans.

It looks gorgeous from these photo and since I live in Calif. I don't have the opportunity to wear these beautiful coats too often. It sounds like you l ow this line well. Y don't want to feel constricted so go with what yo wear underneath. Do you wear thin sweaters or thicker ones?

Maybe too late. I'm not familiar with the brand, but this looks like it could be roomy and not oversized. It looks like it could even have a bit of waist definition. It looks like a good berry color for you too.

Love the color and style! It looks somewhat tailored to be but on the fluid side. The brand is great - my vote is to order!
I cannot help with the sizing - maybe you can call and ask?

I have decided to pass. I found more pictures of the coat on a different website from which it was pretty clear that it was tailored, narrowing at the waist. Since I wanted a straight/loose cut, it was not going to work.
