Q&A about individual items, ensembles, and wardrobe

Should I keep this top?

I have just had a big shopping day with some success.
I bought this

but am a loss as to what I should wear on the bottom. The hemline is about 1 inch above crotch and thus into thigh showing territory - and yet it needs a skinny bottom I'd think. Also too close in colour to wear with denim clams?

I'd agree that skinny apnts sound perfect for this top Anne. Can we see pics? ANd how about the rest of your haul? :)

Lovely top! I would wear it with skinny jeans!

Gorgeous top! Both skinny or straight jeans would work well.

Skinny or straight leg jeans would do the trick. Nice top!

Thanks Ladies!
Tam, I think I'll have to wait until I get home to show you the rest of the haul (on me, anyway) But here is another top I got.

The think that worries me about wearing this with skinnies is that I have only worn tunics with skinnies so far - I am worried about the thigh exposure in this shorter top. Also am thinking of wearing it on really hot days, Tanya I keep thinking of your suggestion on another thread to get white clams! I tried some black pinstriped city shorts with them and they looked a bit loose.

Anne, I think this is a very pretty top and would look fab with skinnies, straight-legs or bootcuts or even clam diggers. Do you have a white pair for the summer? I think they would look O.K. with denim clams but I have noticed that I don't like the dark on dark as much in the summer. If I recall correctly, Patience had a similar top (hers was a bright color - maybe fuschia) that looked incredible on her.

Love your ruffly top too!

I think the voloume will mean it's ok to wear this top with skinnies. I wear my banded tops with skinnies so lots of thigh showing but somehow it works x

I would love to see the top paired with grey skinny jeans.

I understand that we all have our problem areas, but I personally never look at a ladies thighs in skinny jeans. I'm sure you will find a way to make the top and skinnies work for you!

Lovely! It's hard to imagine you are shopping for summer tops while the rest of us are contemplating boots and coats. :-)

Nice! Let’s see it on with your clams :0)

How is your mini makeover going, Anne?

Danja it is only just warming up here - I am trying to think ahead for summer!

Angie not much progress since my last update on my other thread. ie all done except finding the de-pilling device and asking DH to cut my nails. I am away from home right now visiting my Mum so can't do those yet (or post pics)- but her babysitting enabled my shopping day yesterday.
I bought, in addition to the 2 tops pictured in this thread, 2 graphic tees, 2 pairs of leggings; long and cropped, and best of all some great high heleed sandals.

I didn't find flat sandals - I wanted to try these
http://www.sandler.com.au/shoe.....ourID=1019 but they were out of my size (worth trying another shop Angie? Are they too leg shortening?)

I was rather put off by the first sight of my post winter body - hadn't looked at the back of my legs for months! I have put on weight and didn't always fit into my usual size. For that reason I put off looking for shorts.

I tried on heaps of dresses but didn't find what I wanted - a lightweight summer sundress that wasn't in the style of an empire waist with gathers.
Something like the one on the left in this post would have been great

Shana, I don't yet have a white pair of clams - am very attracted to the idea but a bit worried about the potential for stains with my little ones. But I might go for it anyway if I can see some that are cheap. I agree with you about dark on dark.

Thanks for your comments everyone (and sorry for this long post)

I'm with you on the baring your body for the first time when the season's change. I try to switch my usual shower gel for an exfoliating one come the spring, although I don't tan it gives my skin a (sort of) polished gleam. You also have to remember that the lighting in these changing rooms are usually horrid, I swear the Next changing rooms turn my skin blue and as a result I barely buy from that store!

You could try your shorts on over leggings if that will make you more comfortable Anne?

How do you find that type of sandal Anne, I tend to lose a shoe when running after DD1!

Julie - thanks for the sympathy!

I would have to try out the sandal to be sure, and you are probably right that I would end up losing it! I think I would need tight straps to avoid that and I am kind of hoping to avoide the high vamp look (unless I get the colour right, which I did with the high heels)
I am trying to get an everyday flat sandal that is more attractive than last year's

And also wanted to mention that I am right now shortening the 2 dresses mention in this thread

Hope you're having a nice time with Mum and can’t wait to see the shopping loot when you get the chance to post pictures.

I bet your post Winter body looks just fine!

Love the tops, Anne, and also the news that you got to have a shopping day without "help!" :-) If you are too wary of white clams, how about some silver gray clams to wear with the blue top?

Posted 1 month ago

Thanks Angie and Becky - silver grey clams could work (with almost all my other summer stuff too) - will have to keep an eye out for them. Have mot even seen any white ones here, just standard blue denim. But summer is on its way so more stock may become available.
