Shorts with heels? - YouLookFab Forum

When I was growing up (in sunny central Florida), no one wore shorts with heels. Shorts were the casual clothes you wore every day around the house, running errands, etc. Heels were for dressier occasions, skirts, dresses, or dressy pants. Maybe you could wear heels with jeans for a "date night" look.

However, I keep seeing pictures of cute outfits including shorts and heels. I especially like the look of wedges with shorts, since somehow that seems more comfortable and appropriate with shorts. It might be a good way for me to try the look. Since I'm still in a hot climate (Arizona), I think heels with shorts might help me feel more "put together" while still being comfortable. Yet I don't see that look in real life as much as on blogs. What do you ladies wear with shorts? Should I just give it a try? Do a test run to the grocery store?

Yes, I like this. I wear shorts with chunky heels. Well, I only wear chunky heels, but I think walking shorts and edgy pumps like Rockstuds can look great!

I think the look you put together is great.

I don't even like the high heel pumps with skinny jeans look, so I don't think I'd like them with shorts either (of course I'm an old fuddy duddy).

I like the example you posted and think it can definitely work -- I wear shorts and heels myself, but not short-shorts and never with high (3" or up) heels. I think it looks most sophisticated (and is more appropriate for most occasions) to wear moderate heels and/or lengths. I think higher heels can be nice for a dressier look with long shorts, and short shorts can get tempered of a little of the sexiness with a low chunky heel or a flat shoe. No stilettos with Daisy Dukes, thanks.

I think you could wear a low wedge like you've shown. I live in a hot climate too (NM) and I almost never see shorts and heels together. I usually see shorts and really casual shoes like flip-flops or flat sandals.

cute look. Lower wedges. lower chunky heels. can look really cute. avoin the stlettos, higher heels, short shorts would be a hooker look.

I love heels with shorts. I'm petite and they make my legs look a mile long. I'm 5' and wear my shorts at 4 to 5". I do wedges with more casual outfits and like a nude pump or strappy sandal with dressier outfits. I generally wear a 2" to 2 3/4" heel.

I love it and plan to do it this summer with some new espadrilles I recently bought. I really like the example you posted! I also think a chunky heel would work too!

Shorts with heels are normal around here. When it comes to casual-only shorts (like jeans shorts) I prefer then with flats or low wedges, but I use tailor shorts with mid and high heels to go out at night, on barbecue parties or situations where I want to look well dressed but still in a casual way. I avoid shorter or tighter shorts with heels (short/tight shorts may work with modest top and shoes on occasion, but I think they look a bit tacky with heels when you have big thighs).
