Shoe inspiration: heels and flats

A while ago I found this pic of a pair of high-heeled loafers and I just keep going back to them. Not only because I love these ones in particular, but because I love the idea of how this type of shoe (still drooling over Kyle's new red loafers too) could really help change the vibe of many of my outfits + give me more opportunities with skirts, dresses, skinnies etc. But I have to be realistic, heels this high are not good for my back and wouldn't be comfortable for all the city walking I do.

I feel kind of sad about this, but then images of Paul Smith's 2012 Spring collection cheered me up enormously. Just look at all these gorgeous flat shoes in bright colours and all those crisp lines. There *are* fantastic options out there for all us wearers of low heels;-)

I LOVE this collection, Inge! Flats, low heels, shirts, blouses, midis, brights and clean lines. My *absolute* best.

I truly think that low heels and flats are trending. (Remember the Chanel Show). Dare I say that high heeled platforms are starting to look dated!!!

(Ahem... I have just been to NYFW, and am watching London Shows too. I'm feeling particularly trend inspired at the moment, so bare that in mind :))

Me TOO, Angie, we could do some serious damage in his shops next Spring, methinks. And not just with the shoes, oh la la. Sounds like Heather is coming with us too!

And to be clear: I'll never stop loving flats and low heels, but sometimes it would be nice to have a few pair of higher heels too.
But with utterly stunning choices as shown here, we don't need to feel bad at all, I agree.

And: excellent, we'll be fashion forward again then with our lower heels;-)
Definitely wouldn't mind a fantastic pair of flat, bright-coloured loafers either...

Hmm would you say heeled NON platform loafers wouldn't look dated? I have 2 pairs that are several years old, but perhaps I should get them dusted off....

Beautiful show and beautiful shoes! Inge, have you seen the colorful patent ones from J. Crew? I have eyed these, and I am usually not a loafer type of woman. Angie, what do you think about all of the cropped pants in this show :)? Do any of them pass your style filter?

I do love those loafers with heels...but yeah, if you walk a lot you have to take care of your back. I have tons and tons of heels and enjoy wearing them, but only one pair of flats I wear a lot (that aren't tennis shoes) and one pair of sandals. I wish I had more flats but I am so picky about my shoes...they have to look awesome. Plain just won't do. I really love this collection, especially the pink oxfords! I'll keep an eye on this for 2012!

Jonesy, I'm not loving the ankle length trousers, although it's easier to see past them in those exquisitely rich colours. Also! The higher waisted versions look a little more flattering to my eye because they visually lengthen the leg line. Does that make sense?

Glad to hear I'm not the only one inspired by this collection, such a feast for the eyes, wow.

Sara: if any collection could persuade me to do that, then it would be this one, but I really do love Winter and Fall very much and just can't skip the best months for wearing all my beloved boots;-)

Inge, thanks so much for posting the link! I love how Paul Smith is taking traditionally pastel spring colors and giving them some umph.

I had a pair of heeled loafers (metallic antique gold) that I loved. But they were so old (almost 20 years, heh) and the leather started flaking so I had to say goodbye to them.

Inge, I have been loving the look of platform loafers too, but held back for the same reasons--just not practical for my life. Now it turns out I bought some platform boots just today, and now according to Angie's antennae I must fear their longevity is numbered. Wow, though i do love those Paul Smith looks that you posted. I have to say, though, that for me a completely flat shoe is also not the answer--somehow it strains my foot. A small heel is best for me. Along those lines I just saw a gorgeous line-up for fall in a Clark's store.
