At my new job, I am twice the age of most employees (including some management). The other day, one of my co-workers was asking who the shift lead was. I wasn't sure of her name and he asked me if it was "the little old lady". I'm pretty sure the lady in question is 10 years younger than I am (and yes- that's who it was). LOL

My 17 year old nephew thinks I am ancient at 46, so it makes sense.

I would expect them to call me an old lady....but this lady is probably mid 30's.

Ah yes. I'm in a similar situation in my job. Fortunately, I'm working directly in my client's homes, and the "moms" like that I'm a mom, for the most part.

Yes, I'm also old enough to be the parent of many of the people I work with. My "uniform" apparently reads young, and I cover the grey, but mostly the rampant ageism blinds them to the idea that anyone as old as I am could actually exist and walk around breathing and even produce good work, so they simply don't realize that I'm as old as I am. Sometimes the comments are hilarious! I haven't heard "little old lady" yet, though. Thanks for sharing that one.

Last fall I took the bus in the Big City with DH. I asked the fare, and the youngish driver chirped: "$2.00 for seniors!" Back at the hotel, I looked up the rates on line. Seniors are 65 and up!

However, I got 'carded' at my pharmacy when I claimed my senior's discount (20%!) the first time. 55 is the qualifying age.

Apparently it has become quite the scam at movie theatres, to claim seniors discounts when 'underage'!

This is funny and relatable.

Its interesting. My director said to me the other day. I saw that Janet Jackson had her baby. I said yes she did. He sid i instantly thought if you.

I laughed it off and said maybe u should start getting paid more.

Janet if 50 with her first baby and ill be 43 with mine.

Lolz... that's a joke btw, 'lolz'. Hehe. We have a guy at work who everyone thinks is ancient, even my mom. It's weird to have someone who could be your kid talking to you about 'the old guy.' And weird when your mom talks about the same someone who could be her kid as 'the old guy.' Some people are just like that.

And then there was Dr Bruce, who at 84 just fit more naturally with us youngins... that would be 19, 32, and 36... when we joined the seniors trip to Tibet. We bunked together on the overnight train, lol. Dr Bruce was a bad influence. He encouraged a cultural dance exchange - scandalous funky paired hip hop for innocent sex-segregated circle dancing!

Say... Anybody been on a 'snow train' yet? Old people get banjo in the aisles, lol. I love banjo

My third graders love to try and guess my age, and they have said everything between 17 and 77!

Ha, Karie! I was just about to say the same thing! I work with kids ages 6 - 14, and the younger ones (and sometimes even the middle schoolers) think that any teacher has to be ancient. But sometimes "ancient" to them means 23! When the younger kids guess our ages we get everything from 17 to 82. Once a 5th grader in the library told me I had to be at LEAST 35. Flattered, I shrugged and said to the librarian, "Hey, I'll take it." The student then explained that she was just joking and she didn't think I was THAT old, at which point the librarian and I (we're both in our mid-40's) laughed hysterically.
