Well, it's happened to me.

Never did get an e-mail stating that my order for the Blue Mirage tweed coat was shipped, though I ordered Sunday. The coat is still available on their website, but when I log in and check my order, it's showing "no longer available", just as Claudia has experienced. It was showing "in progress", but with no shipping/tracking info. This morning it's "no longer available" (at least not available to me).

I will phone them today, and see if there is one somewhere. According to the website's "find in store" feature, the coat I want isn't available at any stores nearby. The size and colour I want are still featured on the website though.

I'd fallen in love with this coat - had already tried on the Chateau Plush version in-store, and loved the blue/teal tweed even more. Ah well...seems silly, but I almost feel like a little kid who has had a trip to Disneyland canceled or something. This was something I really liked - which doesn't happen often as I'm still very much a newbie at developing my style and learning how to put things together (read: still tentative, still somewhat bland-ish in my selections).

I'm going to start looking around elsewhere, but will still phone Talbot's today to ask if it's true the coat truly isn't available.

UPDATE: I called the Bellevue Square store in Washington state - talked to Leslie, and the coat is being sent to me today. In addition, I am getting 40% off as per today's advertised sale on their website (when I ordered the coat, it was only on for 30% off). Furthermore, they are sending me two coats so that I can be sure to get the correct size (I'm in between an 8 and a 10). Leslie assured me that it's no problem to return the one that doesn't fit to a local store within 90 days.

Suggestion from Leslie: check to see if Bellevue Square has the item 'in store' via their "find in store" feature (their zip code is 98004), then phone to make sure they really do have it, because sometimes the "system takes a day to update" etc. If the website says the store doesn't have the item though, then that store definitely doesn't have the item.

One can always call a store and place an order over the phone. The coats are being shipped today, I'm getting 40% off and not 30% off.

It's like reverse of Macy's - I've gotten great service from Macy's website, but I've seen people here disappointed with their in-store service at some locations. So, the service is there at Talbots - just their website is very wonky.
