Review of Isola Bootie - YouLookFab Forum

Several other fabbers asker for a review of the Isola booties when it arrived, so here it is.

It fits true to size, perhaps a bit snug. if you are between sizes, plan to size up, especially if you are planning to wear thicker socks.

The bootie has decent cushioning and is comfortable. This is NOT for a high volume foot. My plain old average feet filled the shoe. Not uncomfortably so, but if I had even slightly wide feet they wouldn't work.

The materials are nice for the price point. The calfhair is as good or better than similar priced brands such as Sam Edelman. The leather is also as good or better than comparable brands.

They are comfortable on my feet, almost walk the dog the comfortable. They might even have been walk the dog comfortable except for the reason I am sending them back. The soles are super smooth and it's slippery on my wood floors at home. It would be like ice skating on the waxed floors at work. I also would forever be worrying even in parking lots and the like. Would have been an A+ bootie for me with a different sole.

Thanks for the review, Thistle. The slippery soles are easily rectifiable actually. Get a cobbler to but rubber strips on the soles. Some of my clients have that done to all their shoes.

I have also had a cobbler fix soles and heels to make less slippery. For the pricepoint it might be worth looking into.

Yes, you can get great weather proof soles and it doesn't cost a lot. I often do this with leather soles.

Hmm, I took a pair of boots down before, and he could put on new soles. It was. $35 fix plus tax. He didn't say anything about strips even being an option.

I have tried the ones that stick to the bottom of shoes, but they're useless and fall off after a few hours even when I follow the directions on how to apply them.

Thistle, I was charged about what you quote for the full rubber sole -- but it ended up being worth it to me. At first I blanched, but the truth was, I really loved the shoe otherwise, and once I had the soles on it, I felt so secure and comfortable in it. Walked through Manhattan in those booties and never regretted my pennies.

If you have found walk-the-dog comfortable shoes, then DON'T send them back because they are slippery! That is so easily fixed; there are even stick on solutions you can buy in a shoe store and apply yourself if you don't want to see a cobbler. I love the look of those boots.

Thistle, they are 20% off at shoebuy. you can use the savings to offset the price of the soles. Comfortable shoes are few and far between and deserve to be kept.

What about the old-school method of just dragging your feet across the sidewalk until the bottom is all scuffed up? This was my first move every time I got new Sunday shoes as a child, and it always worked, because otherwise, the minute I stepped into church, my feet would slip out from under me and I would land on my bum. I had no coordination at all.

Great review and shoes! I really like them and if they are dog-walking comfortable, it is so worth it to de-slip the soles!

I fix my slippery shoes with stips of tape, like masking or even adhesive tape for holding gauze on a wound. The drugstore stick-on shoe things work well to if you apply them to clean shoe bottoms.
