return orphan denim shirt?

I picked up the BR denim shirt and it fits pretty well...unfortunately, the microcheck pants from Express (or was it Esprit? I keep mixing those two up) did not work - rise was too short.

I don't think I have a good reason to keep the denim shirt, tho it's cute and I love the buttons (they are classic jeans buttons)...but I don't know how long I can/should hold out for a pair of good fitting microchecks...

Thoughts?

Is it the dark denim one from BR? If so, I have it & LUV it. Very comfy & I can see it being a staple easy!

JG - I just added the link - I'm not sure it's the same one or not...I'm not sure how it's going to be a staple for me as I wear jeans A LOT and I don't care for denim on denim.

Yep - same one! Here's mine (below - oops needs rotated - OMG these pic's are too fun). Anyway, I wear jeans all the time also. I like the denim on denim a little. However, I'm wearing it with casual & dress pants to work. Soooo comfy!

Oh, I am sorry the Esprit micro check pants did not work for you MPJ. Are you thinking about trying the other pair ? ( If yes, I have a 35% off coupon I could send you).

I would still keep the denim shirt, it is lovely and works great with black pants too, such as BR Martin skinnies.

Oh... I get it, because you're wanting it to go with microchecks?
I say if it's a great shirt keep... you can mix denims and it would look fab with white jeans next spring.

Oh...keep the shirt if you can ...Pair it with a black pencil or layer under a jacket and black dress pants...or how about with white skinny's as Kim suggested!!

I have that exact denim shirt and you will see it at NYFW. I absolutely love how permanently creased it is. Can you believe that my Gap denim shirt tore???

I find it very versatile and wear it with lots of dressy bottoms, black jeans and white jeans. And I'll sport denim on blue denim too.

I vote keep. The quality is amazing and the buttons are k-word worthy.

I'm thinking that a denim tunic would be more useful to wear with my Gap jeggings and MK skinny ponte pants (leggings) as I'd want more coverage with those items...

The BR Martin pants didn't work for me, and I'm afraid I'm not at the white jeans stage in child rearing (lol).

I like the idea of pairing it with black pants or a black pencil skirt (neither of which I own)...still thinking!

Thanks for the styling ideas...I will mull it over.

Have you tried the Gap denim tunic? I ordered it and it is so soft but my was too big had to exchange for smaller size. I am so short I can wear the denim tunic with leggings or jeans. But I like the BR shirt also I just can not find one that fits yet. I think when you style the denim shirt like Angie suggested you will like it. After you mull it over.

MPJ- I hear you about the white jeans, but honestly if you get a good quality white denim, (mine are 7FAM) they really do wash up nicely. I use oxy-clean if there is a spot and they wash up really nicely.
BUT.... I don't have little peanut butter and jelly hands touching me all day....

I think the denim sirt could be a real workhorse for you next spring...if it fits right, I'd definitely keep!

I really like the shirt. Just be careful of the pockets if you are on the busty side.
