I suspected it before, but now I'm 100% positive that the design team at Anthropologie takes a huge acid trip each season and comes up with this stuff to mess with us.

Now I only need to prove part B of my theory, which is that they also run an office pool and the first employee to obtain photographic "man on the street" evidence of someone wearing this stuff takes it all ...

It looks like a draft excluder to me, I hate it when websites file items in the wrong category such as home ware in the accessories section. My three year old may like it!

I love Anthropologie; it's one of my favorite stores to shop in, but I do acknowledge that they get a little kooky from time to time! With this scarf, they have crossed the line from whimsical into freakish.

Beth, I'm the same way - I LOVE to look around in anthropologie but my actual purchases are few and far between and definitely the more tame items rather than the "signature" ones.

Oh goodness. Can you believe that in my (European) family the elderly ladies (my Grandma, her sisters and my great-grandmother) all take pride in wearing their fox stolas.... The real thing with feet, tail and head, it always gave me shivers as a kid. Kid you not! The funny thing is that my uncle - a hunter - provided them all...

Khris, I hadn't even looked at the price when I posted ~ just about fainted when I went back to have a look-see. That would make a pretty expensive Halloween costume!!

I think it would scare my boys. The scarf's eyes look crazed to me, which is why I immediately thought, "rabid fox."

I've wandered into Anthro a few times and liked a few things, but I've never bought anything from there. Yet. It might be a while before I go back into the store. I'm scared of the dead ponies, flying mallards and rabid foxes. Hm, another plus for online shopping!

Reneeb, no one has posted any reviews yet, so I'm wondering if anyone has bought it too.

Julie, you're right! It does look like a draft stopper. But one that would also keep burglars out.

Love the idea of collective acid tripping amongst the creative team. I think Anne is right, there's a pool going on.

The only way in which I can justify this "collection" of bizarre animal-themed items is that at least they aren't REAL dead animals...

Still love Anthro though. I don't know why only the weirdest, ugliest items end up on YLF...as opposed to things like this, which make my heart sing.

Maya, what I love most about Anthro are the dresses. That dot print one is to die for!

Best way to get more good Anthro stuff on YLF is for you to buy it and model it for us. Or try it on in the store and post pics from the dressing room.

This is what I mean!!! Too many YLFers judge Anthro by the few really weird/stupid things that are posted here...but they are not representative of the whole store! LOOK AT THAT POLKA DOT DRESS. It is fabulous.

Yes, Anthro has some fab dresses, and that's what could lure me back in. Unfortunately the dresses I've tried frequently disappointed me in real life.

It could depend on the brand, though. I lucked out once - the fabric was divine. I should post a picture one day. But that's 1 out of 10 (the other 9 or so being very disappointing). I don't even want to think how much had been spent on shipping back and forth. I had the same issue with JCrew, too.

Edited to add: that's 1 out of 6, not 10

I just bought my first item from Anthro - one of the two cardis I'd been eying - and it is really a nice item. Overpriced, as are all their clothes, but unique and versatile.

To be fair, I did recently start two Anthro-love-fest threads on shoes and boots.

I don't think I own a single Anthro clothing item because the reviews are frequently all over the place. (Some love, some decry the quality or fit.) There doesn't seem to be a lot of consistancy, so I have never felt brave enough to order, and usually feel too overwhelmed by the store to try on in person.)
