I love the ideas that Angie has posted about denim shorts. Most denim shorts that I find are heavy denim. Are there any out there that are a lightweight denim

( Or lightweight denim jeans that I could turn into shorts . )

I am looking for some denim capris but may have to resort to turning an old pair of denims into capris on my own. I will be interested to see what others suggest.

Meredith, I realized that I may not be able to find shorts...but a jean would do just as well for me to alter. Let's see what comes are way.

Isabel, the weight of the medium wash Long and Leans from Gap is a nice weight for warmer months, in my opinion. Very soft, too. I recently cut off a pair of these Long and Leans just below my knee and rolled it twice to just above. They run large and stretch a bit, if you're not familiar with the sizing. I sized down 2 sizes in these.

have you tried the kut from kloth bermuda length shorts? not too heavy and a nice bit of stretch in my opinion.

My favorites right now are from Style and Company at Macy's. They are very light weight, have some stretch, and the rise on them is really nice on me.

I bought some Gap Always Skinnies in the fall (as you may recall). And then I fell and ripped the knee! No loss. They are at the seamstress now, becoming bermudas. I think the weight will be "okay" although I would not wear them on the hottest of hot days - then I would prefer a dress or skirt.

I also have a pair of denim legging jean cutoffs from the Gap last year. I like them a lot; they are lightweight, tapered and super stretchy. These I wear on almost all our days, even the hottest. But I can't find them this year. They have gone the way of the much lamented legging jean itself, I fear.

I just realized that is NO help.

How about Old Navy. I'll bet you could get an inexpensive pair of jeans there and hem to whatever length you wish. The Rock Star Leggings might work? They are not heavy fabric.

My denim shorts are from Old Navy (though they are shorter than what you are looking for). If you're willing to cut up a pair of longer jeans, going to a thrift or consignment store could be another good option.

I'm sure there are. I remember seeing some kind of chambray ones (Banana Republic, I think) quite recently and almost buying therm.

I bought some from Esprit last year that are pretty light. I can't remember if they are still selling in the U.S. but their denim is pretty reasonable for the price point.

With apologies to whoever suggested it on another thread recently because I can't remember, I found that their recommendation of Merona clam length cropped pants at Target was right on. There were 3 shades of light weight blue denim plus colors at the Target I went to. I got a bright coral that are just right when rolled a couple of times and they are on sale for $15 (or maybe it was $17) this week.

Isabel, I recently bought ATL capris that I'm shortening to clams/shorts. They are very light weight, but run VERY small, so you'll want to try them in the store. They come in all sorts of very fun colors.
