That is a good read.
I have "Overdressed" on my hold list at the library - there's a long wait for it. I guess a lot of people are interested in consumption/fashion.

Thanks for posting this, Shiny! I recently checked out "Overdressed" from the library. I didn't read it in entirety, but I read enough to make me question my own shopping habits, and to leave me feeling a bit queasy about some of the things hanging in my closet.

Interesting read. I think it is true that the amount of clothes one purchases has gone up both in amount and frequency of shopping trips. I'm guilty of this myself. As a kid I used to shop twice a year, for fall to purchase fall and winter clothing and for spring to purchase spring and summer clothing. Now I can and do shop whenever I desire, which is more often than twice a year. How habits have changed.
