Quick K/R feedback? Striped Gap tunic, Aldo booties

I'm going downtown tonight and need to decide whether to keep or return this Gap striped dress/tunic and Aldo booties.

I really like the tunic (I wouldn't wear it bare-legged as a dress--it's much too short on me, as you can see in the pic) but am wondering if it's substantially better than the free clothing-swapped striped tunic I already own, also pictured (note the stupid drawstring at the waist!). The Gap tunic's fabric is much heavier, great for fall/winter, and I love the zipper detail at the shoulder. I'll only keep it if it's at least an 8, though.

As for the booties, do they work with the skinnies? They obviously don't work with a dress, as pictured, although the issue may be the dress itself, which is too long, the, wrong style for booties, and also possibly too big (all things I noticed after looking at the photo).

I was going to toss the pictured utility jacket, thinking it was too big, but it may actually work when worn like this. Hmmm... would love thoughts on that as well.

OMG you are SO adorable!! I just love your beautiful face and hair.

Okay - I love the booties. It is hard to tell how big a gap there is at the ankle, but I think you have lovely slender ankles and long legs and can wear these with a casual MOTG dress look as well as leggings and skinnies. Maybe not THIS dress, as you say, but a dress. Or denim skirt. Or some such.

I prefer the tunic you already own, but I have a bad poison eye for those waist tie things, mainly because they look incredibly dumb on me, personally, and I find they always come undone or get caught. BUT - does that thing come out and could you replace with your own (much cooler) belt? If so, might be a thought.

My vote is for returning the tunic - but keep the booties.
You are absolutely gorgeous - striped tunic is not doing you justice.
Dress in pic 1 is interesting - it's a great colour for you, and I like it with the booties, I just think it needs something else as well; some kind of a topper because the solid colour needs to be broken up ( to my eye) Have fun shopping!

Suz and others, did you see my ETA that the tunic with the drawstring is the one I already own, and the non-drawstring one is the one I need to decide about? My pics uploaded in reverse order.

my vote was for the nondrawstring one, i think that's the gap one.

Yep, Melllls, that's right. Sorry I was confusing. One of my kids had a bad fall today--she's OK, but it was a real scare--and I'm scattered.

Suz, you're too kind! *blush* There's very little gap between my ankle and the booties--that's good, right? And they're super comfortable, and go with tons of things I own.

The drawstring in the freebie tunic doesn't come out but I plan to cut it off and cover it with a belt.

I love the way the dress in photo 1 highlights your tiny waist. IMO, it is a much more flattering silhouette than the tunics. The deep V neckline also works beautifully on you.

Tunic is going back. At this point in my shopping/weight loss/style journey I'd rather save the $65 for boots or shoes or something I *know* I'll get to wear until I tire of them, rather than until I shrink out of them.

I'm going to sleep on the booties and would appreciate any other input on those!

qpswan, I definitely agree the dress is more figure-flattering. The waist accentuation is what sold me on it at the consignment shop. I need to see if I can style it in a way that works.

Anyone have an opinion on the utility jacket? It's from last year so it's K/T not a K/R.

I love the utility jacket, new dress, and booties, and think the dress and booties look great together (and maybe the utility jacket would work with that look too :). Agree with you about the striped tunic.

I think that they are both keepers! I'd think you'd get tons of wear out of those booties, and the tunic is cute.

I think your present tunic will work brilliantly with a belt to replace the drawstring thing! Great solution. And I love the utility jacket on you. It looks great with the booties and tunic!

Return tunic. Keep boots - they look great. How would the dress look with a belt? Or with a cropped denim jacket? You could also try layering under the dress - a fitted tee? Love your hair!

I think the dress would work well with a cropped denim jacket and a wide black belt I own--I'll try that tomorrow.

I will pass the compliments on my hair on to my very talented hairdresser--my husband <3
